King Kubrick: Ranking Stanley's Best Films

Failsafe is a fine movie, but Strangelove is better IMO.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I mean, it is already an order of magnitude bigger than Shadowdark: not to diss Dhadowdark, but it has a customer base just over 12,000, based on the Kickstarters: Daggerheart seems to be in the hundreds of thousands, based on the Demiplane data. Still a fraction of the overall market, but...

King Kubrick: Ranking Stanley's Best Films

Solid ranking. Though ranking Kubrick films is a little bit like ranking Beethoven Symphonies: clearly there is an obvious best one, but you can't exactly go wrong with any work in the list 2001 is, simply, one if the very best films ever made. I really love Dr. Strangelove and Barry Lyndon...

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Mathematically, there is a lot of OGL tech in place. The vibe is old school, but the rules have a 3E base and build new takes that are actually more innovative than they are retro, with the aim of relocating pulp literature more than older edition gameplay.

I mean, WotC did just that in the D&D Next process, went over every prior edition woth a fine tooth comb.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

The Year 3 products of 4E were unpopular compared to the first two hears: that's why WotC pivoted hard on their product line at that time.

I'm not in the program myself (though some posters here are or have been in the past), nor are there exact numbers, but it is people.outside, often well outside, the designers inner circles. That's what makes WotC desogn different from TSR's, from as far back as the 90s based on the syste.s they...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

I mean, on the one hand I am with you, but on the other hand the history of D&D games has a certain Russian roulette cycle: the next one could be a masterpiece or a massive dud. Who knows??

5E Powered Gamma World: What Should It Look Like

I'd like to see it as a Setting book for 5E (and it is worth noting that the new DMG does have a paragraph about how to manager a genre-bending gonzo science Fantasy post-apocalyose Setting...and thst paragraph is titled "Gamma World"). Make it very weird, embrace the Gonzo.

Because nobody wanted it, so it didn't sell. The current design philosophy, across industries, is focusing on user needs. UA is about figuring out what people actually want or don't want, so they can focus on making stuff people will actually use. Math balance is a different issue entirely.

They do the latter in their private playtest network: the public tests are just a smell test. Prevents stuff like "Magic of Incarnum" from happening.

D&D 5E (2014) Ben Riggs talks to Richard Baker. Phandelver in 2018 alone sold 300k copies.

Sounds about what it should be, the While the non-Lost Mines stuff added on is not of the same caliber as the original portion...the latter chapters are pretty lootablez including some pretty wild dungeons.
