    D&D 5E (2014) I have something... THE TARRASQUE!

The skeletons have in excess of 30 hp due to the necromancer feature, so only the bite and tail get to kill one each. e: and maybe not the tail, looking at it. The skeletons only hit when they crit, and do 15 avg damage (well, 16 with +1 shortbows) for a massive 0.8 DPR each, x100 = 80

    D&D 5E (2014) I have something... THE TARRASQUE!

I'll do you one better. Assuming you can get enough magic bows - or enough castings of Magic Weapon - a horde of 100 skeletons from a 20th-level Necromancer can drop him in 9 rounds. He can kill just 3 of the enemy skeletons per round.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition -- Help Me Break the Game!

Yeah, the more I learn about it, the more convinced I am that "necromancer with a hundred archer skeletons" is the most surefire way to break the game. Both from a balance perspective (bounded accuracy + action economy + tons of weak monsters) and from a gameplay perspective ("sit tight, I only...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition -- Help Me Break the Game!

Let's talk about a necromancer's ability to keep a horde of beefy skeletons with bows, for starters.

D&D 5E (2014) 60+ monsters and 20+ spell in free official Hoard of the Dragon Queen supplement

Oh god that was ridiculous. And it's not like you can pick up a handful of 20 dice; they need to be rolled in pairs. Whoa. I hadn't even thought about that. Spells were rough when all of them were just Standard actions. With different action types... Wow.

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

Well, the cr16 blue dragon has a wisdom save DC of 17 which takes you out of the fight until you hit it. So if you plan to tackle dragons, which is not unreasonable in a game about dungeons and dragons... Looks kinda mandatory to me, given that tougher dragons will have it even higher.

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

Yeah, if the final save DCs are mostly around 13-14, then indomitable is ... mostly sufficient. If there's quite a few in the 16+ range, I'm afraid I'll have to call it like I see it, especially considering you get a freebie stat bump with your proficiency. Remember Indomitable is also only...

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

Resilient, IIRC; it's been spoiled a few times, including in the thread here.

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

I'll disagree with your disagreement. :) Indomitable - like advantage - is less useful than static modifiers at the upper end of the RNG. If I need to roll an 18 or 19 on my d20, rolling 2 dice won't cut it. On the other hand, Indomitable is awesome when paired with proficiency in a save.

D&D 5E (2014) Chapters/Indigo and the death of the FLGS

Yeah, at this point, it's more unusual when Chapters DOESN'T break street date on gaming books. They did it on 4e, too.

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

Yes, the feat which gives +1 to a stat, coupled with +prof to that save. It's not necessary at 4th, but will become critical. Fighters will need the Wisdom one (which they're otherwise bad at, and which contains a high number of "sit out" spells, and which another thread decided was worth...

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

The feat that gives +1 to a stat and a save proficiency fits this bill, imo. It's boring, but it's important.

D&D 5E (2014) Any authors you think should be in Appendix E but are not?

Oh no! Yeah, I missed him. The one I saw was hard to read.

D&D 5E (2014) Any authors you think should be in Appendix E but are not?

I am so glad people mentioned must-haves that I was going to suggest! Erikson's Malazan series, for certain. Those are amazing, and have their roots in gaming. Ditto, Abercrombie. And the lack of Cook's Black Company is totally baffling.

It does! They used to be able to turn a cubic foot of stuff into gold every day, and then reverse aging.

Pathfinder 1E Sacred Geometry - Ladies and gentlemen, Pathfinder has jumped the shark

Devastating Might: When you declare an attack, do one chin-up. You are responsible for bringing a pull-up bar to the game; PATHFINDER-branded portable pull-up bars are available in the Paizo store. If you succeed, your first attack is a critical hit.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spell Entries - What I would have done differently

I've said before that more info needs to be in the spell header. Save and AoE are big ones.

Pathfinder 1E Sacred Geometry - Ladies and gentlemen, Pathfinder has jumped the shark

Woodslore: Pause the game (probably after someone casts dispel magic). Travel to a nearby park and pick five random flowers or five different leaves from trees, or any combination. None of the plants may be the same species. If you can correctly identify all species of trees, you and your allies...

Pathfinder 1E Sacred Geometry - Ladies and gentlemen, Pathfinder has jumped the shark

Sly Attack: Roll a d20 for an attack roll, and set a similar die to 20 in front of you. Roll your Attack as normal, but pretend you just rolled the 20. If nobody catches you, it's a critical hit!
