OGL:Someone releases as OGC a most revolutionary & awesome game design. You, Wotc...

I was more interested in the game development kind of things. Would Wotc choose to try to lead by developing the best game it could or would it rather focus on leading by the current market standards? Now, it is more obvious than ever that the very nature of markets does change. Of course no-one...

As long as we are talking hypothetically...

What you say it is already taken into consideration. This is why there are moderators and people accept them. There can be extreme cases where it may not work but such is the way of life for us human beings. Things are somewhat stable but never truly solid. Dynamics are a matter of existence. :)

Why can't you disagree someone while being nice at the same time? Think of what people call sportsmanship or fair play.

This is directed at me personally but I do not get what you are getting at. ;)

All of that at the same time. Seriously, this is what is really happening. Important thing is civility. Try to remain civil and respectful of each other's personalities.

Yes, this is more like it. In the current situation, due to the OGL and Pathfinder people could even try to influence the community towards their preference for the same reason. It is all political. The important thing is that it has to remain civil. I do not see anything beyond that. I think...

OGL:Someone releases as OGC a most revolutionary & awesome game design. You, Wotc...

Lol, yeah, it was pretty far fetched and kinda silly. Nevermind about that, I shouldn't have made that question. But the whole questionnaire is kind of that, but less so. I mean, it is more "speculateable" so lets return to that. You still did not answer my question posed to you though. I am...

OGL:Someone releases as OGC a most revolutionary & awesome game design. You, Wotc...

And I am answering back with a question: what are you suspecting I am getting at? Because if you were not suspecting something you would not make the question. The OP is pretty simple and straightforward.

Do monsters/NPCs really need to roll any dice?

Sure but you can have a level of strategy with dice too, depending on how the game is build. But, yes, cards can offer this intrinsically. I still prefer a game that uses strategy and true randomizers.

And to make this harder for you, what if the person did not accept to work for you but instead replied in public with the suggestion of Wotc turning OGL?

Do monsters/NPCs really need to roll any dice?

I personally prefer dice because in theory they are true randomizers. Cards are more predictable.

Yes, but in regards to a shared value people are self centered. It is normal. I mean, if you would like the new edition to be different you would have to say so, you would have to make it clear. Because if you are not going to do it, no one knows what is in your head to do it for you.

OGL:Someone releases as OGC a most revolutionary & awesome game design. You, Wotc...

Perhaps I should have made this as a poll. 1. Do nothing 2. Try to take ideas for the current edition if possible 3. Try to design the next edition on (the ideas of) the new revolutionary design 4. Turn the next edition to OGL and develop on that design 5. Hire the person that did this to work...

What is this supposed to mean? I fail to see what you are suggesting here. "Look at yourself" for...what? trying to change your taste? shuting up? what?

You are Wotc. Now, what would you do about it?

Do monsters/NPCs really need to roll any dice?

Yeah my claims are these but you could substitute the last one of the three with the phrase: "not losing immersion" or "not having a decrease in immersion". There is no specific beef to show because this will depend from the game you want to make. I wanted to only provide some ideas regarding...

Do monsters/NPCs really need to roll any dice?

Regarding diceless: I like randomization. I think, as a matter of personal perception, that it makes part of the way we live our lives. I am further convinced by its appeal in rpgs. Randomization has its significance in a game like D&D and I want to keep that significance. Now, if I want to...

As long as we are talking hypothetically...

Pathfinder's market success has to do at 100% with the profitability of the Pathfinder rpg line. For Wotc, D&D's market success -and thus further investment in the line and further development- is also connected to the performance of other values that are controlled by the D&D merchandise. Do...

Do monsters/NPCs really need to roll any dice?

Of course, I believe that if one accepts the step to eliminate monster rolls he could make a step further and ask for just one roll to determine how say a melee engagement goes or if you want it spelled from a PC's POV how you are fighting versus your adversary, how the fight versus your...

Do monsters/NPCs really need to roll any dice?

Beg your pardon? You seem in a counter-offending mode. Did something in the OP insult you or what?
