Ever have a session like this?

Impressive Quickbeam, most impressive. My "widowmaker" has certainly delivered 10-15 in a session (a few times, most likely), but 17 sounds like it would be tough to beat. Too bad you weren't near a casino. I'd have been tempted to try my luck at one after such a streak.

    I'm off to surgery tomorrow...

Good luck to you, my brother in pain!.... And a hearty "thank you" for ALL of your kind sentiments. When I feel up to it I'll start cruising the boards. I will be home for a month, after all.

    I'm off to surgery tomorrow...

Gotta get my back cut-on bright and early tomorrow morning. I have a collapsed vertebrae that is grinding against another one. There is virtually no disc left between the two. So they are going to fuse the two vertebrae together with a bone graft. Fairly routine they tell me, but I'll be in the...

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Never read the books, but my wife has. We went saturday (11-16-02) and the place was, of course, sold out. I found the movie to be very strong. Witty, with a really good story and great visuals. Some of the highpoints being the castle itself (almost a character unto itself), the curious book...

Meeting EN Worlders in real life

While I have not met anyone from these boards (other than those who are already in my group), I did talk with SHARK a few nights ago on the phone. I can only say we had a great conversation and before I knew it an hour or so had passed! Now I have to work on meeting him, Leopold, T-Billy...

    chessex and you

I agree 100%. I can't stand it when my players use their fancy black&gray swirled dice with red numbers, etc. I had one player with a dice similar to this and he would literally roll, pick it up, stare at it, think about the result, and then announce whether it was a hit or not. Each dice roll...

Exp reward chart is really beginning to annoy me

The chart serves as a good starting point, but I definitely tweak things depending on the actual toughness of the encounter. The way our group works, one player keeps track of the "kills" and then reads them off. That usually jars my memory as to whether it was a cakewalk or whether they REALLY...

    The Wrath of Mallenar!

Gotta say, SHARK, it sounds grim for the Valloreans. That is a colossal wrecking ball they are about to tackle. 600 winterwights, wow! :)

    Dragon mag - December 1982

I just don't like the "theme" issues. It's either feast or famine, where you get more than you need or you get almost nothing at all. I prefer making every issue as diversified and "cluttered" as possible.

Need ideas for an... unusual campaign.

Revisit some of the latter episodes of "Hercules" with Kevin Sorbo. For about 1/2 of the episodes of the last few seasons, it seemed like tongue was firmly planted in cheek. Seriously, a hellenic dance competition? With a disco ball and modern dance moves? You could also have your heros and...

    Monte's gaming shelf

Heh, I like hearing stuff like that. :)

Funniest Thing you have heard at the gaming table

ME (DM) - "Okay, what did you roll on your save?" PLAYER - "About a 14" OTHER PLAYERS - *laughter* and many, many jokes afterward about dice rolls only being approximations. I think the player just got tonguetied, but he still has to bear the occasional joke about it to this day. God bless him!

    Dragon mag - December 1982

It just brings into stark comparison how jam-packed those early editions were - full of stuff that many could use - and how narrow and "hit or miss" the current issues of "Dragon" are. At least "Dungeon" has retained, and in many ways exceeded, its former utility.

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Hello Gary! Thanks a million for sticking around and answering all of our questions. I have a couple for you. First, have you seen that witch Lorraine Williams in the years since your departure from TSR? If so, did you tell her off? The only reason I bring it up is that you mentioned earlier...

The Abyss: Infinite or 666 layers?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: The Abyss: Infinite or 666 layers? Keep in mind, though, that if it is indeed, infinite, you will eventually encounter plane that contains a group of demons wearing dresses and performing "Riverdance" for admiring audiences. That's the flip side to the infinite...

The Abyss: Infinite or 666 layers?

Re: Re: Re: The Abyss: Infinite or 666 layers? Just curious why? Is it THAT much better because it's infinite? I suppose it boils down to personal taste.

Re: Re: The Abyss: Infinite or 666 layers? A-ha! I knew I wasn't crazy. Thanks Mr. Fidgit.
