    OK, Conan pretty much ROCKS

That movie has to be one of my guiltiest of pleasures. It's sooo cheesy. My favorite quote is when Tia Carrere channel's Darth Vader: "Pray I do not alter it further". More evidence that Kull the Conquerer is just someone's D&D session put to film.

Totally Obscure Game of the Day

I've been trying to get a game of this together for a while. I played this a lot back in high school. Of course, it always degenerated into a nuke-fest. We could not resist those plastic mushroom cloud pieces!

Amusing Brew Names, Brought to you by MS Brewing Co.

I'm a homebrewer and I have this problem each time I make a new batch of beer. What to call it? My last batch was brewed on 6-6-06, so I'm calling it "Beelzebrew". Other ideas I've had: Thac0hol Potion of Blur (instead of making you blurry it makes everything you see blurry)

    Good Rpg novels

You can't go wrong with the list in the back of the 1st edition AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide. I highly recommend: * Jack Vance's Dying Earth books, especially those about Cugel * Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser stories * Roger Zelazny's Amber stories * Michael Moorcock's Elric stories *...

    New dinosaur named after Hogwarts

Thanks, man. Oh yeah, Sonic Hedgehog. Those crazy molecular biologists... I run across this gene every once in a while at work and it slays me every time.

Totally Obscure Game of the Day

I played this too! I took it with me on a boy scout trip and at one point, we had seven players. One of the coolest things was the idea that when your character levelled up to Lord of Creation, you were expected to create new worlds and invite the other PCs to come and adventure there. It was...

    New dinosaur named after Hogwarts

You've never been to this children's museum. It's awesome.

    OK, Conan pretty much ROCKS

Check out the Governor's face after Subotai tells him that HIS god lives over Crom, Conan's god. Priceless. Actually that whole scene pretty much slays me. We almost pulled out Kull the Conquerer on DVD (top that geekiness, EnWorld!) tonight, but got distracted by Old School on TBS.

The Fine Art of Quitting a Bad Game

Walk away. Your time is waaay to valuable to waste it doing something that's no fun. So you won't find a gaming group for a while? Do something else for a while. Then come back to RPGs later when you have good people to play with.

Dinosaur that looks like a Dragon (head)

Holy crap! The Indy Children's Museum! We were going to take our daughter there later this summer. If any of your GenConners want to see this, it would be like a 15 minute drive from downtown Indy.

Totally Obscure Game of the Day

Post one of your favorite totally obscure, old-school game that you are almost embarassed to say you like. Here's one of mine. Avalon Hill's Gunslinger Punch out 200 cards. Punch out dozens of counters. Read rules that make the IRS tax forms seem easy. Then blow your friends away in Wild West...

    OK, Conan pretty much ROCKS

Robert Rodriguez would have made a fun Conan movie! Plus, when it went to DVD, we'd have a new Rodriguez recipe. The Sin City breakfast tacos are incredible. Maybe he could do something with lizards on sticks...

    OK, Conan pretty much ROCKS

It would be impossible for me to watch this movie without some of the best parts: * Conan fighting the crappy giant snake. The snake totally sucks. At one point, it seems as though Conan is caught in its coils, but I think he just slipped in some ichor and fell down. * Conan passing out in his...

What was your first gaming convention and what stood out about it?

My first convention was Pentacon in Fort Wayne, in about 1989 or '90. I was in high school at the time and it was a blast. * I picked up the Pool of Radiance CRPG for Commodore 64 there. * I saw the biggest game of Starfleet Battles I'd seen before or since--an attack on a base in the middle of...

Just saw X-Men III (Now with spoilers!)

Just saw this movie Friday. I have to say, of the three, this was the first time I saw action scenes of truely comic book proportions. Magneto moving the GG bridge! Pyro and Magneto throwing car bombs! Storm finally being somewhat cool! Iceman finally looks like Iceman (for like 10 seconds)...
