    Bounded Accuracy L&L

An orc is simpler still - not even WotC apparently thinks a single orc should be a challenge for a level 20 party, but apparently a single wooden door could be a challenge in DDN.

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

A game where the highest level heroes have trouble with a wooden door doesn't feel like D&D at all.

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

What is "funny" is that the devs actually seem to think a wooden door should be a challenge for an epic party if they don't have weight lifters among them. Which means "Epic Party" is somewhat less adept at destroying doors than your average firefighter with an axe. What is "funny" in a sad way...

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

It makes no sense that a wooden door would be as difficult to damage at level 1 as at level 20 even though you do much more damage to monsters. If doors are unable to be damaged with weapons, and can only be "broken" through a strength check then we just wrecked immersion, disregarding all real...

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

By that logic a house cat is a challenge for a level 20 party if they don't have handle animal to calm her down, only speaking to dealing with a cat through handle animal. That a dev would even mention a wooden door as presenting a challenge to a level 20 party means he either has not thought at...

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

And how on earth can any developer think this should be a challenge, even a minor one, for a level 20 party?

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

It is stupid. A level 20 party is meant to kill dragons, yet can't wreck a wooden door faster than you can say "I hit it with my axe"? How many hitpoints does a wooden door have, huh?

D&D is not a supers game.

Are you actually trying to condemn people for wanting to play powerful characters in a game?
  9. F

D&D is not a supers game.

If D&D ends with larger than life superheroes battling demon kings and gods, then it should not start out with zeroes, but heroes. Otherwise you have a sort of bait and switch for new players. Those who expect Dungeons with Dragons get disappointed when the actual game is not about slaying...

    Bounded Accuracy L&L

In order for an Iron-banded wooden door to be tough to break down for a 20th level party it would need hitpoints on a level equal to a 20th level monster. But that would mean it's near-impossible to break down or damage at low levels (whioch breaks verisimilitude for anyone who ever used an axe)...

    I’m not dead yet…..sticking with 3.5

The beta version. I could use any of the classes easily in my game, without trouble.

How Has the WotC PDF Situation Affected You REALLY?

Don't do a poll if you don't want data, and if you do a poll, do it right, not with loaded questions. If you just want a discussion, don't post a poll.

The Real Reason(s) Behind the PDF Debacle

Which is a shame. The evasive "both" can cover "a tiny little bit of this, and the rest of that", and "equally both", and all between them. In short, no real information was provided. If that had been asking the questions I'd have asked straight back "and what was the major reason?". Honestly...

    I’m not dead yet…..sticking with 3.5

I can use pathfinder stuff with 3.X without problems - of course, I use 3.0 and 3.5 material in the same campaign without problems either, so I am used to "not sweating the details".

Exclusive interview WotC President Greg Leeds

If you can't see that the pdf withdrawal was either the work of blundering idiots or had other motives than to battle piracy, then I do hope for you that you never get targetted by any conman, you'll lose your shirt.

Exclusive interview WotC President Greg Leeds

Haven't you ever tried to find out the truth by asking questions to several people, and then pieced together what happened? Haven't you ever disproven a statement just by asking questions, until you spotted the lie, or omissions, by the contradictions or evasions there were?

Exclusive interview WotC President Greg Leeds

That's not true. As anyone with some background in law enforcement knows, you check any statement for signs of lies, and signs of the truth being spoken. You do not assume it's lies and deception from the start, you do that once you read it, and found too many evasions and (at most) half-truths...

Forked Thread: How much does WotC policies matter to your enjoyment of the game

If I am lied to or insulted or treated badly in a shop I stop frequenting it. WotC did all that.
