    DM - Adversarial or Permissive?

I can be a tough DM at times, but I have learned over the years that starting the game out with players that aren't already together as a party just creates too much of a chance for the game to never get off the ground. There will be PLENTY of time to create situations that may cause conflict...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Next: Deal with it, DM?

I must be confused. I was under the impression that the new game will support the different play styles and "rulesets", but not necessarily at the same table. In other words, the rules will support a rules lite OD&D style game or a 3e style game or an AEUD style game. But when the DM sets the...

Hillside Games, Asheville: The Unfriendly Local Game Store

I have done quite a bit of SEO in my years and in my opinion, Wyvern's Tale is a terrible name for a game store. It should be something like [Anytown] Games or [Anytown] Fun and Games, or Westside Games or East Illinois Games, [Anytown] Gaming Paradise or [Anytown] Gamer's Best or something...

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

My Mom's husband is a Worker's Comp lawyer (mostly Federal), and he's one of the fair/good ones -- not the shyster type. He says that he has represented many employees that filed "hostile work environment" and/or wrongful termination lawsuits that, while successful, still made the employee...

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

That's lame. Is it the same in the US? I thought I read that some adults here are being DXed in their mid 20s and 30s. Maybe I misread or misunderstood the article or study; it was a couple of years ago. I suppose this is the same for those diagnosed with depression or other similar bipolar...

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

Anyway, I apologize for going off topic. I do have a friend, though that won't tell his parents that he still play's D&D even though he's been doing it for 30 years. His dad just gives him grief over it.

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

This may very well be your experience, I understand. If I recall, you said you consider yourself as having an ASD. Has it medically diagnosed, or are you guessing because you relate to the behaviors? I am definitely not judging, like I said earlier, we are concerned our daughter might have a...

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

That's what I thought, though it didn't read that way when you look at the quote. :)

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

What would you consider a large percentage? I've met several hundreds of D&D/TTRPGers, Trekkie/StarWars, ComicBookers, etc in my lifetime, but only one or two would I consider to have an ASD and even then, only mildly.

And she has time to GAME? I thought I was busy, but holy smokes!!! :-S:eek::lol:

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

I am confused... I think you are saying that not sharing that you are gaming is unhealthy? Or are you saying that being unwilling might be OK? (I struggle with parsing multiple positives and negatives in a sentence...) :p

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

I suppose I was talking about a different kind of person. As a matter of fact, we are concerned that our daughter has a mild form of Asperger's, but we won't know until she ages a bit more. I was talking about the person that doesn't shower and doesn't care, may be smart, but acts like he/she...

    Ashamed of being a Gamer?

See, I really don't get this. I am quite confident that she would understand EVEN LESS if she found out he has been lying to her for years and years, for two children... Her first thought would be, "What else has he been lying about for all these years..." The lying would end my marriage, for...

Ed Greenwood Presents: Elminster's Forgotten Realms

I'd also like to see this. I know very little about FR except what little I read from my 3rd edition books (which have since been sold) and the little I read from my post Spell-Plague 4e FR. I did read the Icewind Dale books in High School (1982ish?), but these were pre-Time of Troubles as...

    OotS 841 is up

Man, how did you remember that? That was almost 150 strips ago! My memory seems to be good for about 15-20 strips and then it's mindwipe before that.... :p damn short(long)-term memory loss...

    Damn it! Han shot first!!!!

Yes, but being sternly critical is not the same as being hateful. In my notation of violence = hate, I should have been clearer. It was supposed to be in context to the anger at Lucas. I meant that a violent reaction to Lucas changing his works would be worse than just hate, but in that case...

    Damn it! Han shot first!!!!

OK, well I appreciate your opinion. I guess I just don't understand the reactions of some to something as minor as Lucas tinkering with his movies. I should clarify... It's minor to me. :)

    Damn it! Han shot first!!!!

Agreed. I don't tell people how to express themselves, and can accept the fact that some people do it with hate. But there are better ways than hate to do it. Almost every commonly held spiritual principle espouses love or acceptance or prayer for your enemies or something similar over hate...

    One miiiilllliiiooon dollars!

(Not directed at mach1.0pants, but in general) I know there are sometimes issues, but failing to pay after agreeing via kickstarter is LAME. Everybody knows the date the kickstarter pledge ends (in this case, especially, since it has had high visibility), therefore if you pledge "to be cool"...

I got both my pledge email payment confirmation emails, money taken out of my amazon payment for both. (I pledged in my name and once for my daughter.)
