For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

But if there was an opening at one of the 4th edition games, you would play that?

For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

So the results so far: 0e -- 3 Basic -- 13 1e -- 2 2e -- 2 3e -- 0 3.5 -- 5 5e -- 16 Interesting results, so far. Over the past year, I've been buying multiple D&D products, mostly off dndclassics, but also picking up bargains for 4e stuff out of FLGS and Amazon. I've discovered, to my...

    D&D 4E Who's still playing 4E

I would also recommend reading through this "story hour" thread, if you haven't already: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?242305-Running-player-commentary-on-PCat-s-4E-Campaign-Heroic-tier-(finished)

Lack of D&D teenage hero art

For what purpose is the art used? I would recommend using symbols rather than portraits...a shield to represent fighters, a book to represent wizards, etc.

Speaking of investments: Municipal bonds, I'm talking double A rating. . . the best investment in the Nentir Vale. The vote results, so far, are, in order: 3, 9, 1, 2, 0, 4, 12

    Adventurous Treasure Hunters

I'm pretty sure this idea has been proposed on other threads: Getting through the maze of corridors from one encounter area to the next could be handled as a skill challenge. Dungeoneering, Perception, Nature, History, Endurance could all be contributing skills. If the DM is OCD enough, he...

Rests that occur outside of a town setting only regenerate half the hit points/healing surges. Taking two extended rests in a row does not help.

Would You Get A D&D Tattoo?

I hope it was one of those "lick and stick" tatoos that come in Cracker Jack boxes.

For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

    Poll results so far: D&D 0e 2 7.69% D&D Basic (B/X and BECMI) 8 30.77% AD&D 1e 1 3.85% AD&D 2e 2 7.69% D&D 3e...

    Adventurous Treasure Hunters

The concept appeals to me, as well. The DM Guide had a method for creating random dungeons, and populating them with "eight to ten encounters". I would bump up the monster damage. Double the damage die (instead of 1d8 +6, roll 2d8 +6) or the static damage (instead of 1d8 +6, roll 1d8 +12).

I would add to Fighter-Cricket's analysis that fights in a 4e sandbox would be interesting and fun, but no so very terrifying. There will be more of the team fighter charging into a line of hobgoblins, and less dousing the corridor with oil and setting it on fire.

For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

Also known as "The Little Brown Books". "0e" was, I believe, supplementary rules to Chainmail at first. If you haven't yet, I recommend a series of Youtube videos by Matthew Colville called "Making a Fighter in Every Edition of D&D". He is up to AD&D 1e, so far. Since I'm plugging him, anyway...

For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

Also, there is one unofficial Dungeon World game being played off in a corner, and three 13th Age games being played in various hotel rooms.

For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

Interesting results so far... I posted the poll to test an hypothesis I was thinking about. So far, my hypothesis does not reflect reality. So far, 5e is in the lead with 7 votes. Basic has 6, 3.5 has 3 votes, 0e and 2e each have 2 votes, 1e has 1 vote, and poor, beleaguered 3rd edition has naught.

For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

    Right now, voting totals: 0e -- 1 Basic -- 5 (one of these votes is mine, and doesn't count, so 4) 1e -- 1 2e -- 2 3e -- 0 3.5 -- 3 5e -- 4

For 4vengers: What is your preferred fallback edition?

I would be happy to redo the poll, to satisfy my hordes of screaming fans. I'm just not sure how to do that, aside from starting a new thread (and I'd hate to lose all my cool quotes from "Airplane!"). Also, I meant to have the poll visible to those who voted, but messed it up, somehow. It...

    Adventurous Treasure Hunters

Another thing one might use is some form of "morale" rules. (I'm talking 4e, still) Once at the beginning of the fight, once when the first combatant falls (whether PC or monster), and once when the monster's group loses half its members, allow the PCs to make an Intimidate Check vs the Will...

    Adventurous Treasure Hunters

For 4e, enforce encumbrance rules, and slash the weight allowance. Instead of multiplying the STR score by 10, multiply it by 5. Also, require the players draw their own dang map, and award xp for treasure acquired.
