Do you live in San Francisco? Can you help me help my game?

And this law is usually enforced quite strictly across the state, particularly in the cities. There are a few places that make a tidy business on being the holdouts to the old ways, and in fact are routinely cited by the authorities for it. They just write it off as a business expense. Rush...

Christmas Gift Giving and Your Campaign Group

Well, except for me, almost my entire gaming group is Jewish, so Christmas isn't a particularly big deal for us... We make a bigger deal of birthdays, which have been pretty cool. Lots of dice and such. jtb

New feat: Swarm Wild Shape, looking for comments

FYI, there is a swarm shifter template in Libris Mortis for exactly that. Adds +1 to the CR, +2 for 2 or more forms, and has about 15 types with their respective abilities and such. Worth checking out.

Do you have a website for your campaign?

I had one, once, and then had a Yahoo message board. I took it down after we had a player leave the campaign and... yeah. I am also a player in a couple campaigns that have Yahoo message boards - they're pretty cool if you're into that sort of thing - free message board and file hosting. good...

    The Dread Legion Advances...(Updated 08/02/2005)

Valerie gave birth to the twins this last week - four weeks early. I expect all of them are busy and exhausted at the moment! You should hear from Ed soon, though I do also know that as a consequence of the early birth, release dates on Rocketship Empires 1936 and the Tale of Girl have been...

What have you stolen from published sources?

Corvis Cloistered Clerics from UA (though, that's what that book is for, yoinking stuff) music domain from someone here (thanks, whoever that was) Luminaux, the Blue City, the City of Harmony, from Sharon Shinn's novels of Samaria A few adventures here and there. PrC's here and there. jtb

    WereTurtle! WereCroc! WereDungbeetle!

Libris Mortis has a swarmshifter template that can be applied to any undead - you can be anything from rats to gnats to roaches. I personally don't see why it couldn't be for mortals, too. it's a little creepy, but hey, it's that time of year... jtb

    Turning Undead variant

Here's what I think… duration: concentration, up to 1 round/(effective cleric) level - see below radius: I'm thinking about reducing it from 60' to 30', with the availability of a feat to increase it (sort of like metamagic - maybe costing two turning attempts) attacking: I think maintaining...

    Rocketship Empires

In answer to the original question, it is a d20 Modern/Future supplement. It will include lots of information, gear, adventures, a campaign setting, deckplans of starships based on WWII-era aircraft and boats... I've seen the artwork, and a lot of the writing. It looks really exciting. As...

What's coming down the line for d20 future support?

Rocketship Empires 1936 Imagine if mankind took to the stars... 70 years ago. includes really cool artwork, starships, gear, maps, deckplans, and more. StoryART Games

Help Needed Planning A Campaign (My Players (Sounds so pretentious from me) Stay Out)

Wow, just wow. You are REALLY going to want to check out the Realm of Shards Campaign setting by StoryART Games, when it comes out next month. Set on a series of moonlets, with airships and different races... Might be right up your alley, and will be seeing a major PDF release next month...

How does the d20 Modern Wealth system work??

yeah - you have to figure that, based on relative skill levels, first level characters in D20M are, at best, recent college grads. I don't know about you, but when I was just out of college, I was pretty darn broke. jtb

If you were to play a version of pre-3.0 D&D, which would it be?

Sorry - I'd choose - and have chosen - 3.x over any game system. I just like it; it works for me. Most of my gaming group wants to go HERO, though. bleah. jtb

Tell me about halflings in your world.

Krikkit. (I only remember that because I reread Life, the Universe, and Everything about three days ago.) And there's no night sky in my campaign world - I took the dragonlance idea of stars = gods, and then killed off all the gods but the god of the sun and moon. i.e. no stars. The players...

Tell me about halflings in your world.

The halflings in my campaign are loosely based on the Edori from Sharon Shinn's Samaria series (though physically smaller). They are friendly, trusting, musical, pious, carefree, nomadic, drawn to bright colors and good times. They don't save for a rainy day because they don't see what's wrong...

    Turning Undead variant

I ran some numbers on the effectiveness of this method - here's the spreadsheet. If my calculations are right, what I discovered is that, in the mid-levels, the UA method (labeled Crescent, after my campaign, in the doc) is slightly advantageous vs. mid-level undead. Now, as to what the...
