    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Sure, you can phrase it that way. I would probably choose slower/gradual rollout of class complication. Spellcasters are already significantly more complicated to build than other classes, so removing some of the complication from what is already the densest build point is a positive in my eyes...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

I see two outcomes that make it an actively positive decision, completely divorced from the homogenization of power: Mechanically, it takes away a potentially complicated choice at the point most likely to have someone overwhelmed with choice, or unsure of the impact of what they are doing, and...

D&D 5E (2024) How many combats do you have on average adventuring day.

Good of you to bring that up, the text is pretty clear it's not a goal or a standard to be met (unless your personal goal is to have characters ending the day/rest period with close to zero resources left). Especially with the caveats about average luck, average conditions, most parties, etc...

D&D 5E (2024) DMs what do you think of the new PHB?

As a mostly-forever-DM, most importantly, I like the vast majority of the mechanical changes that have been made, thematically, logistically, coherently. My reaction to the art I've seen has been neutral to positive. I do not yet have it in hand, so I can't speak to the layout/organization, but...

D&D 5E (2024) Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn

Yeah, there's no city I've spent more time in, both as a player and DM. Thankfully there's at least the Neverwinter Campaign Setting book for 4e to pull from.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's your favorite rule change?

The movement of ASI from species to background.

D&D 5E (2024) DMs, what makes running D&D fun for you?

I could list a bunch of things, but at the end of the day, the number one aspect is that it's creative expression that brings fun and happiness to a table full of people for the evening.

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

This was my immediate question upon reading the text we do have present in this thread. Sadly, none of the videos I skimmed through touched on it.

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Speaking of UVG, the []quel (their term) to UVG, Our Golden Age, alongside The Vastlands Guidebook, a standalone rule system book, went up on Backerkit yesterday, blowing past all their stretch goals already.

D&D General What do you prefer to give/get XP for?

From the last time a similar question was asked: The number one on this list that I don't currently use much, but want to prioritize more/run a game that incentivizes is "Exploration and Discovery"

D&D General In Celebration of Over The Top Violence in D&D

Verbs I tend towards: pierces, slices, cleaves, slams, collapses, slumps, reels, fades, keels I personally stay away from descriptions like rends, tears, shatters, maims, amputates, crushes, caves in, spurts, gushes The middle ground is probably stuff like describing blood smeared across their...

D&D 5E (2024) Should 2014 Half Elves and Half Orcs be added to the 2025 SRD?

I can only speak directly for myself, obviously, but a point buy system for D&D species in particular at this time gives me hives on both an ethical and optimization level. Truly the last thing I want to see compared to most other options.

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

You asked I answered, with what I feel are very reasonable arguments, as well as additional alternative ones. I don't think they are so esoteric as to be rare among players.

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

No, obviously? But I think lots will share either my reasoning, or the end result for different reasons (wanting to be on the current edition, never played a 2014 paladin, don't want to deal with split-table-rules hassle), to the point that it's not helpful to claim that people are going to...

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

I'm a current paladin player, and I will push to use the new rules, because I think the new design is better, and have always felt that Divine Smite was off in its execution. Knowing that that power ceiling will drop does nothing to keep me away from it, especially when more than balanced by all...

D&D General Do You Use a DM Screen?

Even if I moved to rolling everything in the open, I would still use one in games like 5e, Trail of Cthulhu, or Monster of the Week, but I never have with games like Blades in the Dark, Honey Heist, and Starforged. 100% vibes thing at this point for me.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Cleric"

This was pointed out on a reddit thread, and now I'm not so sure about this aspect of it. PT8:

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Cleric"

I would really miss the possibilities that came from it, to the degree that I think I'm just going to add the old version's ability back in addition to the new form.
