    I don't remember where it is ... maybe DMG or Monster Manual (Check under improving monsters as HyperSmurf suggested) Basicly, you change the dice of damage. d4 -> d6 d6 -> d8 d8 or d10 -> 2d6 d12 -> 2d8 (off the top of my head ... might be the 3.0 version)
