Bracers of Mighty Striking: Near Useless?

This. You have to compare it to the Dragonborn if you want a baseline for a race suited to melee classes. Now, I'm *sure* we'll see power creep, but I'm not convinced it'll be as glaring as all that.

Why Shouldn't I Ban "Come and Get It"?

I can't get a look at the rules from my desk here, but there is an attack roll associated with this right? I assume one against will? It's going to be harder for the fighter to affect most wizard and artillery types than minions and brutes, if that's the case. Also, kudos to Tony Vargas for...

Bracers of Mighty Striking: Near Useless?

Do you really think so? I always thought the Magic Missile and Eldritch Blast were allowed as ranged basics because they were meant to be no more powerful than basic ranged weapon attacks. They both appear to be pretty on par with the longbow in the hands of a proficient user, with a better...

Why Shouldn't I Ban "Come and Get It"?

The villain as forced the PCs into an arena, finding themselves surrounded by a crowd of chanting, bloodlusting onlookers. At his side, upon a grand balcony seat, or several dozen innocent children. "Unless you'd like to see these orphan children burned to death, Sir Valiant, you'll do as I say...

    Burst & Blast area

Ok, point taken. So the Statue isn't a "Solid object that fills [its] square"? Because if it were, you would have to count around the statue, putting the goblin out of range, rather than under cover.

    Burst & Blast area

If the square two to the left of the statue is out of range, why isn't the one immediately above the leftmost bugbear?

Monster Manual: What's missing which has impacted you?

Djinn. I have this whole Genies as immortal extraplanar taskmasters enslaving large portions of the civilized world campaign, and while I planned on making lots of variant/class templated versons of the Djinn and Efrit, I hadn't anticipated only having one of the core two to go on. Hoping...

How to detain an Eladrin Rogue? ie, teleporting

Which works out to 1 per 5 minutes, right? I think blindfolds are a good solution. Though you'd never be able to keep them as regular prisoners. They'd need to be tied up, or bound with some sort of locking mask that prevents sight. A neat little moral quandry for Good societies to wrestle with.

    Attack from two squares away

I'm quoting you because it's the most recent example of this line of reasoning. Nothing personal, but a lot of people have said it, and the fact remains that it's kind of silly. You can stand up and charge someone three squares away, but not two squares away? And this is good game design...

combat/non-combat abilities: how is it balanced?

Man, that is some seriously healthy discussion right there. While I'm in agreement that the non-combat abilities of the classes aren't balanced against one-another, I don't think that WotC was trying to use combat power as a balance against them. The wizard has low hit points and bad AC...

    Why impose Slow in melee?

What if you're immune to one condition or the other? Are undead still immune to stunning?

    Combat w/ Flyers

I've been wondering about this lately, too. Is my fireball a firecube, or just a five foot high firesquare?

    Creature Incarnations - Kobolds!

These are freaking awesome. The wild mage bodes well for the future, if you ask me. A sense of being able to violate the way magic works if it makes a cool villain or monster is totally needed. (Ok, one weirdness complaint... A swarm of kobolds is still size small?)

    Shouldn't most Rituals be free?

I'm not sure why so many people say that scrying is "game breaking." I've often found it to be a great way to feed exactly the right information to players, so long as you acknowledge its existence before designing your plots... As for ritual costs, I've been seriously considering a workaround...

[Ranger] Nimble Stike = Buffed Up Spring Attack?

This. I always try to think logically about who has cover from what. Arrow slits are designed so the person firing from behind them has optimal firing angles, and people outside can't hit the person inside. Different targets have differing degrees of cover from the same object. As to hiding, I...

    Crawling

I've always allowed tactical movement from the prone position. In 3.0, our game became a lot more exciting when we realized we couldn't find rules prohibiting a 5-foot-step from prone. All of a sudden, tripped fighters realized that the -4 penalty to hit didn't out weigh the option to make their...

What good is a "ranged basic" attack?

Well done. I only found one other. The creatures a Warlock with the Life Stealer PP brings to life with Life Spark Summons can make only basic attacks. Ranged or Melee. Which is so far one of the few things I can find that monster ranged basics are good for.

    Illusion Power Inconsistencies

Not really in this case, but as I pointed out, it implies a certain laziness, and could definitely cause issues if it were a different condition. (Prone, Dazed, Weakened, etc.) This isn't game breaking stuff, this isn't going to make these powers useless or unworkable or overpowered, but it's...

    Illusion Power Inconsistencies

I'm definitely willing to concede your point, but the internal consistency is the issue to me, as I can't locate any othe powers that do this. Full disclosure, though, I was already a little put off by having to double check powers each time to see if they ended at the beginning or end of...
