Judging by the Fan Creations forum, demand is highest for classes and races. I have a feeling this will exhaust itself after Wizards releases more of its classes and races - at which point I think feats and powers will become the focus.

There are no rules for applying templates to PCs. Some templates - like vampires - might be best represented by a feat chain. Others - like liches - are probably best saved for paragon paths. More worryingly, there's no hard-and-fast rule for applying templates to solo creatures, so as yet...

I think that's very astute. I wouldn't say "the majority" of publishers did this, but I know of several high-profile companies that did.

I'm sorry, I'm having trouble understanding what you're envisaging. Are you saying that characters wouldn't receive the 1/2 level bonus to attacks, defenses and skills? I would be very reluctant to implement something like this. P.S. This should probably be in the House Rules forum.

October is the month when 3rd party publishers will begin to release, if I remember correctly. Keep an eye out for the GSL, coming (hopefully) tomorrow. It should confirm that date. I know Goodman Games want to release a free adventure on 21 June, IIRC.
