    My problem with six-second rounds

Try Feng Shui, a round of combat = 1 shot in an action movie. Each combat is bronken down into Scenes, which last as long as the highest initiative, and count down. Furthermore, there are Magic schticks that a player can learn which allow them to REWIND an entire initiative count and act...

    Prehistoric D20

Believe it or not, there is a Caveman RPG. it's called..."Land of OG" subtitle "Gaming no many words" There is actually a complete list of acceptable words to use in OG games. The expansion book contained one new word (gasp!) You can be a "strong caveman", a "many word caveman" and many more...

Whatever happened to Bargle in your campaign?

Oh! You mean Admiral Bargle, of the HMSD* "Red Box"**? The same one my players are currently under the command of? Yeah. He's doing just fine. Bargle is living his dream, global conquest on a day-to-day basis. Though he is kind of bored, seeing how he has now conquered countless worlds, but...

what would you be in the dungeons and Dragons world?

What would I be in D&D? One of Tucker's Kobolds :) Flaming oil trench? "check." burning barricade? "check." Molitov coctails? "BIG check."

Charles Stross on Gary Gygax as World Dictator

Oh... now this has got my mind all fired up. Near-future Sci-fi RPG. The Internet 3.0, also known as "The Kingdom of webs" 3d graphic user interface. Large clusters are arranged like cities, with similar information sharing space on vast neon-ivory towers. People jack themselves into the...

My player is going to hate his cohort...

Well, just two things 1. Don't treat the leadership feat as an excuse to punish the player. It's an oft-overlooked feat which many GMs flat out disallow, and others self-break by making cohorts that are more dramatic than the PC themselves. Remember that gaining a cohort means that the player...

    Any DMs ever try this?

Mute-Dyslexia is a terrible affliction :D Actually, the had an episode of Batman (the animated series) where his world was... idyllic. He was married, his business was successful, and his parents were alive... except for the fact that every time he looked at a piece of paper it was...

My player is going to hate his cohort...

Ugh, the trigger switch is overplayed. An old GM of mine had an NPC who was a schizophrenic sociopath / pacifist. His trigger that turned him from "turn the other cheek" to "slice their face off" was (dah-de-dah!) violence. The Players wound up just putting him in manacles for... pretty much...

    How are GNOMES ?

Pratchett seems to have a soft spot for the wee free men, they show up in his other, more famous series (Discworld) as being pint-sized powerhouses. Height, 4" (inches) STR: 18+ Move: 30+ Four of them, working in conjunction, can steal a cow. They sneak up on a sleeping cow, then each grabs a...

Sci-Fi gamers: what's the RPG you use / prefer

Dragonstar. I know it's just D&D in space, but gosh darn it, it's well-done D&D in space. With a basic 3.0 / 3.5 conversion there's lots to enjoy. It also helps if you kick players an extra skill or two for the optional base classes (like freefall, demolitions, or knowledge chemestry.)

    Telling a story vs. railroading

Well, the Tree of Elven Might, the only one I'm intimately familiar with was definitely not a linear adventure. as a matter of fact, you could argue that it is entirely too vague. Either that, or i'm missing a big piece of it :(

How many homebrew adventures have you written?

I've never used a module, so... 100 or more. Conversely, my players help a lot in my determining what they want to do next. I ask them, "what did you think" at the end of every session, and improve as best I can.
