    D&D, d20 Freebies

I saved a ton of WotC web enhancements for 3.0 and 3.5. Unfortunately, none contain any open game content and all strictly forbid the copying or reproduction of any part of them (I just checked). I know that might seem weird, given they were freebies, but I'm not allowed to share them. I am...

    Shadowcaster?

As you may know, the shadowcaster was the work of Ari Marmell, aka @Mouseferatu. Back in 2007, there was a discussion here on ENWorld about the class and Ari shared his thoughts on it. As I was interested in featuring shadowcasters in my campaign, I copied a couple of posts by Ari in which he...

D&D 5E (2014) How has 5e solved the Wand of CLW problem?

I haven't read this whole thread, so please forgive me if you've already read something along these lines, but here's how I have made my peace with describing wounds and healing, and hit points as a mechanism. When I was ten, I had a bad fall, as in from a tree, via rusty railings. Although I...

D&D 5E (2014) Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

I was about to take you to task on this, not least because I don't include any PrCs in my game, until I read: So, yep. Let's go with that. And I'm glad you can get something out of every edition. Your underlying point, that each game rewards a different style of play, is entirely reasonable...

Second 5th Edition Survey! Plus Results of the First Survey: The Ranger Gets Some Attention!

I agree with most of what you've said throughout this thread but I have to take issue with this. The edition we have to thank for meaningless class bloat is in fact first edition. In the first three years of White Dwarf alone, there were more than twelve new classes published (including the...

Published Adventures - How Many Do You Own?

I don't know how many I own. They date from the earliest 1e mods (many of which I've supplemented with their 3e conversions) to the end of the 3e publishing era. I don't have any PF, 4e or 5e modules, yet. I have countless mods from Dungeon, some dating as far back as 1e, and dozens more in...

Controlling Your Lightining Bolt: Bounce, Ricochet, Skip, etc.

Oh thank you. That is good.

Controlling Your Lightining Bolt: Bounce, Ricochet, Skip, etc.

True, but... There is a spell reflection character option for roguish/evasion types in Complete Mage but that is only reactive. Still, it might serve - along with sculpt spell - to inspire some fine home-brew ruling. Can you help me out here, with a page number maybe? I might be going blind...

D&D 5E (2014) Low Level Wizards Really Do Suck in 5E

This is why I'm glad I'm not your DM any more. (Seriously, I want to be your DM again.)

D&D 5E (2014) Can you like both 5e and Pathfinder?

There's a lot to like about 5e. But I refer you to my sig. TL;DR, yes.

Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde FREE on dtrpg

That's just weird. Unless you bought your laptop back in nineties, I would have thought it should be able to cope with a 112MB PDF. Maybe something went awry with the watermarking or download. I'm pretty sure you can download it again. It might be worth a try.

Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde FREE on dtrpg

Thanks for bringing my attention to this. I ran the adventure for my group several years ago and we had a lot of fun with it. As I mostly DM via laptop now, having a shiny digital copy is a boon. I'm DMing a different group and considering modifying the adventure for re-use. So cheers!

D&D 5E (2014) Reasons Why My Interest in 5e is Waning

Heresy! If WotC incorporates My Little Pony into D&D, woe betide anyone who doesn't let me use Magic Cutie Marks when I assault Twilight Sparkle's Castle in her Rainbow Magic Kingdom.

D&D 5E (2014) Where does the punitive approach to pc death come from?

When I ran the Sunless Citadel for an old friend of some twenty-odd years, and we got to the dire rats, to my surprise he asked me if I could change them to anything else, such as spiders. As it turned out, he was terribly squeamish about rats, which I hadn't known. And there was I thinking...

D&D 5E (2014) Where does the punitive approach to pc death come from?

Is it? Don't they? Are they? Er… Still, the Sunless Citadel is underground. Like a basement. Erm… Oh look! What's that over there? (Must remember to cross that glorious victory off my PCs' CV.)

D&D 5E (2014) Where does the punitive approach to pc death come from?

Yes, actually it's one of the first combats you can face in Icewind Dale (beneath the inn). But The Sunless Citadel's first combat encounter is with dire rats and the citadel is a sort of… basement… thing. I'll get my (dire) coat...

Did Charles Stross write a follow-up article on the githyanki for "White Dwarf"?

I bring sad tidings. After the original githyanki FF entry in in WD12, there are references to it in letters (WD17, 19, 24, 35, 41), the FF poll results in WD18 (in which it came sixth), a WD47 article on demonists in which the spell Summons Army (sic) can manifest a githyanki war party, WD76...
