    Wound points

The con score effects hit points. If a first level wizard with a con of 16, has 7 hp. He's wounded losses all hp, and 8 off his con. It will take 8 days to recover all his con(1/day) However his max hit points initially are 3, becasue his con score is temporaryily 8.He can recover those 3 hp in...

    non-linear, non-site-based adventures - your thought process?

As Umbran says choice, and character motivations are important factors. The thing I would add is time to the background. The world continues spining. As long as you have a time element in the game site-based and linear adventures are full of choices. If the party don't complete the adventure...

    Wound points

I've been considering some changes to the wound points system from UA. First change wound be. That rather than have a seperate total for wound points equal to con score. I'd take damage straight off the con score. I think this is a bit simpilar, plus it avoids the situations where a character...

What's the worst repercussions you've experienced from playing an evil campaign?

I ran an anything goes campaign, where the players could have evil characters. Only one player had an evil character, the rest were neutral. Although the characters couldn't cooperate with anything, and treasure division was a nightmare. And everybody loved it. However aas the campaign went on ...

    Please Help me Defend Darkhold

I would work on the basis of Manshoon not being there. But the defences are set up/cast by him. Work on layers of defence. The outer layer, low level spells, permanent zones of truth ,detect good and detect magic at guard posts etc Alarm spells for guarded areas. Which the party should bypass...

Do you Enjoy running high level games?

As was mentioned above. The quick and easy way to create high level charcters is , not to worry about the detail. As to challenging a high level party. Try putting them up against themselves, use their character sheets as the basis for their oppenents. With parties with lots of magic, use for...

    Rangers and 'Shapechanger' favored enemy.

It was dropped on the change to 3.5 When we converted , my DM allowed me to take the humanoid (shapechanger) as fav enemy. And rules that bonus applies to what the creature is, not what it has changed into.

    Player Tactics

I think hitting them with low CR monsters, using good tactics , and telling them how low the CR is, is a good idea. If they talk so much, have you tried converting their descriptions into tactics. For example Player, I charge forward, swinging my sword to deliver a mighty blow that sends the...

    D&D Economics

I wouldn't try making econmics work , just show the players some of the effects. A few things i've done in the past are In towns where there are lots of succesful adventurers , treat it like a gold rush town. All the prices have gone up, because of the amount of money Adventurers are bringing...

    Player Tactics

The two things I'd try are first talking to the players outside the game about tactics. And second make sure they have time and oppertunity to talk tactics during combat. My own experince with a same problem was with a party of four, 15th level characters., I was a shadow wizards, the rest of...

Alignment in the movie "Man on Fire"

I used the wotc online alignment test, answering fron DWs perspective. And got Neutral Good. Which I think shows the flaws of the aligmnet system.

    Favourite Dr Who.

Doctor Who Hartnell. My parents tell me i was clued to the TV, so it must of been pretty good. Troughton. The cyber-man on black&white TV, we're really scary. As I remember I liked the program but not the doctor so much. Pertwee. Some very good episodes, especially with the master. Tom Baker...

    Hexblades in play

I tried a cleric /hexblade which worked ok. I do think multiclassing hexblade does weaken them. The curse power is an important part of the class and is dependant on the hexblade class level not the character level. And if you do multiclass them, another charisma orientated class is best.

    Pre-rolling dice for the game

I've never pre rolled with combat or damage dice, but i do frequently for monster/npc skill checks . Rather than look up a monsters listen stats during a game . I can pre roll it , which saves time.

    Settings you want to like

The three things that put me off most of the settings out there are Magic, dieties and technology. Magic, theres either too much(high magic) or the impact of the magic isn't thought out properly. Dieties, my biggest complaint about FR, is that the dieties seems so poor. Technolgy, most settings...

    D&D 3.x Reworking 3e armour; need help!

I mean realistic in the sense that in medieval times people didn't use daggers and rapiers against plate mail. The DR for heavier armour means low damage weapons are ineffective. While heavy crossbows and double handed swords are effective, as they do more damage. Conan is a low magic setting...

    D&D 3.x Reworking 3e armour; need help!

Reworking armour I like the Conan RPG armour system , where armour give damage reduction and doesn't improve AC. Seems far more realistic and balenced.
