    Building Two Characters with Synergy

Controller and Rogue could work, but I don't personally think you'll "feel" the synergy as much as just two parts of the overall party that just happen to benefit eachother once in a while... Another one you may want to consider is the Warlord/Barbarian combo. Warlord gives free attacks and...

    Tactical Maps

Are there any map resources available for Scales of War that don't have "DM notes" all over them? Googling turns up a lot of clamoring of people who would like to see such, but no actual results. :erm: And I'm not sure if I could take the noted up ones and make them usable via photoshop...the...

    Awesome solo monster fight

You have to be careful about how you interfere with your defender when it comes to solos (or anything, really). His entire job is focused around drawing attention to himself and away from the other party members, so if you do stuff like daze him all day it can make him feel like he's not...

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

Okay, but I also respect what they do and that they may have reasons for asking that. I'm not going to thumb my nose at WotC's own R&D team just because they haven't held me to a legally binding contract. Edit: It's clear that there was certainly some level of miscommunication going on here...

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

There was some consternation at a table by Michael Robles when someone started taking pictures, which they explained was for their blog; Greg Bilsland stopped him and said it was ok as long as they weren't taking pictures of the actual character sheets or posting anything on the blog verbatim...

Question about Hexblade infernal pact bonus

Personally, I flavor-write my Hexblade as manifesting his pact weapon from the rod. I ignore that fact when it comes to free hands because I do technically still wield one in each, but it sounds cooler that way and I rarely need the free hand :)

    Slimy Transmutation

It's available in the Red Box Starter Set, but no place else. I'm not even sure that there's a "substitute" available in another resource...

Question on downgrading a standard monster to a minion?

Give the wight minions a touch/grab attack; deals damage and lowers all defenses by 1 for each wight grabbing the player, standard grab rules apply.

    Fortune Cards?

Cards given out w/ Encounters will almost certainly be Promo and not serial.

    2/7 DDI Update

If you're referring to the Executioner, yes, Trevor confirmed that it will not be implemented until Heroes of Shadow.

D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

You can use them without the twitter effects, twitter just augments their use. The standard method for the cards is that you always have one per turn; you either draw one if you don't have one (and use it if desired), use the one you have, or elect to hold on to the one you have for later. Once...

D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

lol :p In case you have a serious question there, the twitter buffs are just a side feature that augments your use of the cards. The cards themselves are sold at your FLGS. Technically you don't even need a twitter account to use the buffs, just watch the stream at twitter.com/Wizards_DND and...

D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

The Fortune Cards are a completely optional mechanic, nobody is required to have them. The twitter buffs do revolve around their use, though. Your old Renown Points cards are still valid as well, but you can only use one or the other; FC or RP, not both.

D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

You don't want to play a character simply because you can't spec a 4th at-will power that will likely only see extremely limited use to begin with? I'm not trying to pick you apart here, just trying to understand the logic. You're protesting as if you're being forced to play a completely...

    why play rogue/thief?

Thief isn't busting out 40 DPR but the fact that they can carry a steady 15~25 pretty much every round is impressive.

D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

Make up your mind, are you there to CharOp or network with other players? Encounters was designed with the new player in mind, so the basic principle was to limit the character options so anyone coming in didn't feel like they'd be drinking from a firehose (and the promotion of new products...

    Action Point usage

It causes headaches with turn progression and has the danger of "spotlight stealing" so yes, I'd say it's problematic. Action Points in and of themselves are a nuisance in my opinion though, so I may be biased :p

D&D Encounters: March of the Phantom Brigade

The readability is much better; it runs more like a book than a DMG. You start on page 1 (not actually page 1 since there's some instructional bits for the DM, but you know what I mean) and run the first encounter, and then rather than having to page back to the front of the book to read the box...
