    Action Point usage

Like others here, I'm going to say that your DM is crazy. Action Points are a free action, and if your PP gives you a boon until your next turn, then that boon applies to everything you do once you've used the point. There's no law on when or what you can use an AP on in RAW. Also, because DM...

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

The way I termed it was almost verbatim how Mike Mearls explained it to us at DDXP; the book is meant to have something for everyone, but they want to deliver it "Essentials style" because they like how the information flows that way. If you want to start an Essentials fight, I'm out.

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

The Heroes of Shadow book will be "Essentials format" in the sense of how it breaks down the information within, but the material is meant to be adaptable to every class and build.

    Returning to the game

I rather agree with this, but I might add that it can't hurt to perhaps try to involve the players in this process a little bit; prompt them to try to intimidate the creatures into surrendering or fleeing. Not only is this a naturally supported mechanic (Intimidate check vs target Will +10)...

Looking for a motivation for players (do something cool cards?)

Greg Bilsland does this, I believe. It's not a bad idea but I don't personally care for it because it can become rather subjective if you aren't careful. It also runs the risk of power creep depending on what you allow the points to be spent on, and violates the concept of "real life != in...

Looking for a motivation for players (do something cool cards?)

I'm a fan of positive reinforcement; give them a +1 for being ready. They can use it on any one die roll that turn. I'd advise against action points, those already bog the game down somewhat since using one often invokes an entire second decision-making cycle.

    Minions working together

This isn't a problem at all, because you only get one Immediate Action per round. If there are 4 minions, and you can IA on the first or third one, it doesn't matter what order they go in, you either IA the first one, or let it pass and IA the third one. No matter where they go in the turn...

Help Me With My Laser Cleric

I would suggest looking into one of the Essentials Warpriest builds if that's what you want; virtually all of their powers are like that, and between the three domains you can get a slightly different bent on them; offensive, defensive, and curative effects.

Where can I download "War of the Burning Sky"?

War of the Burning Sky is a campaign adventure path written for EN World subscribers, not DDI. I believe you CAN just buy the path material outright, but subscribing to EN World gets you a lot of other good stuff too; both crunchy and fluffy bits to spice up your own games. Check the green...

Any Living Forgotten Realms adventures good?

I'm a fan of EAST2-1: Ends and Means both tactically and because it spotlights the Underdark and the Drow/Dwarf conflict there. Though I don't much care for the confused look players of it get when they finish and find themselves infected by some mysterious disease they can't cure and don't seem...

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

The character sheets are Essentials, so it's hard to tell what is a class/race feature vs a feat...but guessing by the language of the ones provided, I would say no (at least, not among the three sheets I have).

    Which feats are "feat tax"?

Er, wha? The CB is smart enough to not add together same-type bonuses, sure, so you don't get +1 from both Master of Arms and Staff Expertise...but it will still add the secondary benefit of Staff Expertise just fine.

D&D 4E Sell me on these 4e sourcebooks!

I really like the Metallic Draconomicon, but may be biased as I think dragons are :):):):)ing awesome and use them every opportunity I get. Open Grave has some great monsters in it. Tomb of Horrors is cool but don't go into it expecting the original. It has some homages but largely is a very...

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

In that case, I believe it is just a stat boost, as I do not recall the binder rolling extra damage on a regular basis. However, the binder has the ability to 'assimilate' spirits, and can take on their abilities as semi-disposable extra powers or boons, so that gives them a little bit of a...

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

I'm not sure if I understand your first question; as for your second, I want to say yes but I do not have the sheet to verify. I have the Blackguard, "deathpriest" (Warpriest, death domain), and Vrylokan Knight.

Has anyone posted the character sheets from DDXP?

Actually we were allowed to keep them, and talk about them; but we can't post pics of the actual sheets or relay specifics on powers/traits. :erm: Is there anything in particular you'd like to know about?

    Melee and Reach

We're saying the same thing, I'm just isolating terms. When I say rangeless, I mean a power that doesn't explicitly define a range, but depends on another property to supply it, such as "Melee weapon" type abilities.

Loss of Ki - More Harm Than Good?

Re: Heroes of Shadow- You might think differently if you got to see the new classes and races in action; they were featured at the D&D Classic at DDXP and they were just all around awesome. The new classes and races both added a lot of flavor to even just that simple oneshot adventure. I am...

    Melee and Reach

"Melee" is just the keyword that identifies the attack type; Melee, Ranged, Close, Area. If it doesn't specify a range after the keyword, it generally uses the range of your equipped weapon. Melee 1 specifically gives the attack a range of 1 square from origin, regardless of your weapon or...
