D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

Huh, I didn't get anything beyond the first camp kiss in Act 1 for a long while. But now that things have settled in Act 3, I expect the relationship will get to the next step. Could I ask how you managed to get to pound town in Act 1?

D&D 4E Ben Riggs' "What the Heck Happened with 4th Edition?" seminar at Gen Con 2023

I'd love to see that recording, if only so that we won't keep relitigating the same arguments for 50 more pages.

You didn't need to. Humans are already proficient with light armour and shields in BG3.

No offense, but there is a very easy solution to that problem that you can implement. Only you, really.

Same goes for Ottoman Turkish! People just wrote it without vowels in the Arabic script, and for a language where vowels matter a lot, that was a terrible, terrible idea. Thankfully our language reform in the 30s saw us switch to a much more compatible script — and using the same script as the...

Eh, that swinginess also exists in attack rolls and other ability checks, so I don't mind it that much. Thing is, it shows that there are only 4 initiative positions, since everyone ends up being grouped together one way or another. I'd much have preferred the swinginess to basically being...

Well, it's a topping that's maligned. And I get it, some people probably discount it a bit too quickly. Perhaps its bad reputation is exaggerated. But fact is, it didn't get mass appeal. It failed to do what most people wanted from a pizza. If you like it, sure, no problem. But to act like it's...

Truly, nobody has ever been persecuted like those who like pineapple on pizza. The most oppressed minority. Except, that's not true. Grow up and just move on with the fact that you like a niche pizza flavour for goodness's sake. You're not fighting a moral battle when you're discussing pizza.

Larian is surely famous for its difficult fights, so it's possible the fights in the game are tougher than the 5E baseline, but I disagree with your assesment. Despite all the talk about it being impossible to kill your players in 5E, the first four levels (and especially the first two) are very...

D&D General "Forever DM" - choice or lack of alternatives?

I'm both. I did end up being a player in a few campaigns, but I'm a control freak and I actually like designing the world and the plotlines (as well as controlling multiple NPCs) over playing one character.

Things tend to time out when you first encounter their hook, and then if they seem time sensitive, it'll probably evolve if you take a long rest. But it's usually things that are quite explicit about their urgency, like somebody who is in a life threatening situation or a burning building (or...

Good thing that isn't the actual plotline then. It's a druid who gets the chance to indulge in their consensual kink, only should you choose to. I mean, the Forgotten Realms have far kinkier stuff confirmed by Ed Greenwood himself. I really don't see why this is so appalling to people. In...

His story was entirely rewritten compared to Early Access, and I think stuff they added after EA does lack some polish. People regularly complain about Halsin and Minthara being underwhelming as companion options, and I have to admit, I liked Wyll's earlier, more gruff voice more.

WotC Hasbro CEO Chris Cox, "I would say that the underlying thesis of our D&D business is all about digital,”

Having been a player in it, I'd say the internet criticism is mostly right. The Greenest encounters are completely out of balance, and I just felt like the plot yanked our chain to go to nonsensical places. Like, I had no idea why we were going to the Mere of the Dead Men at some point, and the...

I genuinely wonder if some people are paid to defend a company or its products sometimes, given how fervently (and sometimes delusionally) they seem to write stuff. In other news, some people I should've put in my ignore list long ago. I knew I found them to be a wangrod, I never liked...

That's mostly down to Friends not having its usual downside. But yeah, Charm Person is useless in BG3. Having said that, it was never a good spell in combat in 5e. The target made its save with advantage if you were in a fight, and the effect ended if it took damage. The designers were basically...
