I've been bugging my FLGS about this all week...nothing yet, but I haven't called today.

Very interesting...and it shows a willingness to expand beyond the horizons of the design space. There's no reason that a class has to be strictly in one role...could we see a Wizard build that is a striker too? I'd love to see a Psion as a striker...the Monk being the only psionic striker...

Nods on the devils and demons...but those are pretty popular too. But the Purple Worm and Dracolich I included in the 'solos' part.

You know, I think the main monsters when people think about 'updating them' are the Chromatic Dragons, the other solos, and perhaps the giants. Otherwise they're either less common or popular or, as is the case for the Heroic tier monsters, don't actually need to be altered.

Which is high praise, considering how awesome the Eberron maps are.

Yeah...on the one hand it would have been nice to have updated MM1 monsters...on the other hand...MORE MONSTERS!!!!! More feats, not good. More powers, not necessarily good. More magic items, not good (except for that book next year) But... More monsters is ALWAYS good.

Don't know how I missed it, but that's what I was looking for. Whew. :lol:

Seeing the game from the other side of the screen is an excellent learning opportunity. I did so recently and I'm very glad I did so. Made me realize (or hammered home) things that I didn't like as a player, and things I did...which should make my DMing better (I hope).

Looking at WotC's seminar schedule it doesn't look like there is any event for announcing future releases? Maybe there won't be a Campaign Setting 2011 after all... :(

They never were considered canon actually.

What's worse is when you get a novel from a setting that really doesn't seem like it belongs. It changes vital elements for no apparent reason and such. I'm looking at you "Mark of Death".

Unfortunately, I think you're right. Really what makes Mystara great is the massive history and backstory, which fortunately doesn't require any mechanic changes.

Nice thing about the Eberron novels is that they aren't canon for the campaign setting.

Well, whatever mistakes they made with FR...they didn't make them in Eberron. IMO, the Eberron Campaign Setting is one of the best 4e supplements, period.

I wasn't aware of that. Yes, this would significantly impact the utility of the other two settings, especially since they were just outlines.

I don't see them being anywhere near as cool. First, there's nostalgia, but more importantly, each of the D&D Gazetteers were fairly dramatically different from each other (plus they added in new rule systems).

As far as I know, yes, they did buy the rights to the other two settings. That's why Rich Berlew can't actually talk about what was in his.

Oh, I understand. I just don't want the PoL gazateers to be at the cost of losing the annual campaign setting.
