Essentials: Magic Item Rarity Explained, it's actually good!

Seems to me they should be able to do more. However you could easily tie it to a dragonshard item or something greater like a creation forge.

Essentials: Magic Item Rarity Explained, it's actually good!

Another thing I'm wondering about is how this dovetails into the Mark of Making for Eberron.

Essentials: Magic Item Rarity Explained, it's actually good!

I'm curious where consumables will fall on this.

So, Dark Sun: It's officially out. What do you think of it?

I don't know about BEST...Eberron is pretty freaking great. It's just not the new hotness anymore. But yeah, the Creature Catalog is great (I LOVE the idea of putting in hazards, traps and exotic terrain in that book...they should do that for the Monster Vaults from now on). Themes are...

    Themes in Eberron

This is true. However, I think what distinguishes a Theme from a Paragon Path is that a PP is...well a Paragon of that class or race. A Theme needs to be of cross-class benefit. You need to be able to see how several classes would belong to that Theme. For example, a Last War veteran could...

    DM's kit preview

Yeah, I wasn't planning on buying many of the Essentials products, but I'm liking what I see too much.

What Would a 4e Mystara Look Like?

One thing I liked about the Eberron and Dark Sun books is that they summarized the setting in 10 and 8 Facts each. So what would be the "N Facts about Mystara"? Basically it's Mystara in a nutshell. 1. Most of the Immortals were once mortal. - Mystara seems prime for Epic tier play...

    Themes in Eberron

I like the Extreme Explorer and Inquisitves for sure. Wasn't so sure about the Druidic sects, but I suppose it does work since you don't have to be a _druid_. You could be a Shaman, a Warden, a Ranger...heck you could even be a psionic type (those would certainly join the Gatekeepers)...

    Themes in Eberron

I know that the Players Handbook next year will feature Themes for 'normal' PCs similar to what is shown in the Dark Sun campaign setting. Themes are a great design idea IMO...and fill in a nice niche that was a bit of a void...one that Paragon paths don't exactly replicate. Themes are...

D&D 4E Prediction: 4e economy will have to change

Wouldn't that be awesome if it was say, part of the 2011 Player's Handbook?

Magic Items - Common, Uncommon, Rare

One thing that occured to me today though...if you're not going to have a limit on PC's uses of magic item daily powers, the Potion of Clarity needs to be adjusted again.

Magic Items - Common, Uncommon, Rare

I think the powers that be have already stated that almost all of the magic items currently in existence will be classified as uncommon. In addition, the suggestion will be that each player only have one rare item max. Considering how dull most of the items are, I think all the rare items...

D&D 4E Prediction: 4e economy will have to change

Why not supply rules for those people who _do_ want to run such games. Especially given that WotC is on a nostalgia kick, and running strongholds was certainly part of the game, at least in the BECMI days. I know at least one of my players wanted to start building a stronghold in the last...

D&D 4E Prediction: 4e economy will have to change

The problem is that by upper paragon and epic tier, the PCs are getting MASSIVE amounts of gold or gold equivalent...such that WotC had to invent Astral Diamonds in order to handle the huge numbers involved. There may be some way for PCs to make uncommon items (by requiring them to get...

D&D 4E Prediction: 4e economy will have to change

Given the news that magic items will be classified as common, uncommon and rare, with the common items the only ones that can be purchased by PCs or created using the Craft Magic Item ritual. This puts the distribution of uncommon items (which is most of the items currently listed) back into...

    D&D 4E 4E Races, Post-Essentials: Flexibility, You Say?

I'd love it if we got rid of racial stat modifiers completely, and while we're at it, eliminate stat increases as you level up. I don't see how either really benefit the game, and in fact, mess things up. 3-18 was traditional...18 Strength was _impressive_. Now, 18 strength means you're being...

Magic Items - Common, Uncommon, Rare

No announcement about magic item cards. As for rare items, these are not going to be artifacts, but they will be items of higher power than the current crop. I'm thinking something on the order of the old Ring of Shooting Stars as an example. Current speculation has the common items being...
