What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

When Daggerheart first came out, I thought (and posted about) how it was going to be controversial and some people were going to very much not like it. And this was the reason. Different people have vastly different ideas as to what belongs in RPGs and we're seeing that here. I love the...

Daggerheart "Description on Demand" a GM DON'T

I have seen this go different ways depending on the type of player. You have some players who love this sort of thing and get excited by it. And then you have those who hate it the intensity of 10000 suns. And then you have the quiet player who just isn't very skilled or interested in it. As...

Invincible RPG Announced by Free League

As usual, there's a pretty long discussion on Knights of Last Call.

Invincible RPG Announced by Free League

I'll second that, I think you'd like it. Now the Year Zero system for superheroes, and specifically Invincible, will be a sell for me. I don't think it's a good fit. I do trust the designers, though, so I'll check into it.

D&D General Take A Look At The Class Boards From The New D&D Starter Set

This looks really interesting and has a distinctive design that I think a lot of people will like. It doesn't look anything like 4E. I say that as someone who played 4E and likes it. This looks like a way to help get new players into D&D with bits and bobbles.

What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

I'd say that is very much your personal opinion. Neither of these games talks about themselves in this way and my experience running and playing Pathfinder, it has the same level of roleplay as a game like D&D has ever had. Which is to say it's what you make of it. One of the Actual Play...

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

That's the reason they do it: clickbait gets their videos in front of more people. It's one of those things where if you talk to people who make a living doing this, they need to get in front of viewers. Many content creators I like (and I'm not interested in clickbait articles that truly are...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

This reflects impulse buying, and it's something that (I believe) will largely go away with the shift to one book $80 packages. I have the first book for several APs that I just picked up because they sounded interesting ... and then they weren't exciting enough to get the rest. For me, one $80...

What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

I've made a ton of characters with Pathbuilder, and one party of them on Forge Steel. And I didn't find either very difficult. They step you through the process. I think both games would be more difficult without online tools, so in that way, they are similar.

What gets me playing Draw Steel and not Pathfinder 2e?

I've played exactly one session (a demo) for Draw Steel, but it seems like it does what it says it's going to: provide a cinematic tactical experience. To me, that means you can develop a variety of strategies and combo them with your party members. PF2 is similar, but the combos aren't as...

    D&D 5E (2024) Rate D&D 2024

For me, I rated it a 3, because I already have 5E. With the exception of some cleanups of classes, I don't really see anything that makes me want to adopt it. Now if I were a new player coming into the game, it would be more like a 7. It's definitely not my favorite edition, but it made the game...

What Property Do You Still Want to See Get a TTRPG Adaptation

I think this would be fantastic. I think you could do it with a more narrative system but the magic system is really complicated beneath the surface. If you haven't checked this series out, I highly recommend it.

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

But it's not 80 as compared to 90. It's 80 as compared to 30. Each month, the money I would spend on things like APs is about $40. I didn't back any Kickstarters or buy any games this month, so what I did was to go see K-Pop Demon Hunter with my daughter and then have drinks with her at a...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

For me, it doesn't cost less. For someone who is highly irresponsible, I have my finances pretty squared away. After everything is done, I have 30-40 dollars per month that I can spend on stupid stuff. And by that I mean I don't care or plan it ... it could be a big foam cheese head for all I...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

And I don't know how to tell you this, but I've been on Enworld the whole time, and participated in those discussions. And I said the same thing: leave this to the fans and avoid this issue. I don't know what WotC is going to do with the final product (or if there will even be one) but WotC has...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

This is a pretty good example of what I was talking about. I think it's way too early in the process to be this mad. And it's a great example of how the actual content is likely to be a lose-lose proposition for WotC. I hope I'm wrong and they present it in a similar manner to the original...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

I think this is a very good point. There are a lot of adventures published by smaller publishers that have really thought about how to make an adventure that's easier to run for the GM. I'm running Abomination Vaults and there are tons of resources out there for keeping track of different NPCs...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

If this is where we are and we are only at the point of testing classes, wow is this going to be a controversial release. If everyone who doesn't like updating the world for Modern Audiences is in this camp, I'm going to take a long pass on the book, and on discussions of it too.

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

Knights of Last Call just started a series of short videos about DaggerHeart. Originally, Derrik did this as one loooooong video, but he's splitting them up, along with doing some editing. I think this first video, on what DaggerHeart is not, is really interesting for people who are considering...

Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

That's the issue, really. You have a more modest price, monthly, and a new model where each book is more expensive but they're larger and less frequent. The question is, will people adapt to the new price point? It's a question, because a lot of people will take more frequent, yet individually...
