    D&D 5E (2014) First Session of HotDQ - WOW, what a meatgrinder

You guys! Stop arguing like (Pirate)cats and (Thank) Dogs! ... ok, so you weren't really arguing. But... I couldn't let the pun go to waste. The terrible ones yearn to be free.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

There is. It's essentially an artifact, though.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

It's bounded accuracy (as in, accuracy falls within certain bounds), not FLAT accuracy. It certainly does exist, and I think the hypothetical AC27 character is... unlikely, at best.

    D&D 5E (2014) Bone Devil

Didn't they already spoil this once? Edit: Ah, yes. The article is dated 8/19, not 9/19. I thought I was going crazy there for a bit.

D&D 5E (2014) Bounded Accuracy: does it deliver as promised?

It's interesting so far. The only problem I'm seeing is that after awhile, my players are only missing on very low rolls. Actually, I'm not sure that's a problem. Let's call it an observation, instead. It seems to work because players inherently enjoy "hitting" -- and this lets them do that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does 5E NEED a campaign world book?

I kind-of feel like it does need a campaign book. Yes, there's a lot of information on past settings already available. And if you know to look for it, that's great. But not everyone is coming into the game with decades of experience or knowledge of what has come before. For them, it can be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact and Sentient/Artifact Weapons

I think the INTENT was for it to apply to the entire paragraph. Personally, I'm going to be ignoring that line entirely. Let the Warlock bind an artifact. And let him pull it out of hammerspace any time he likes. I mean, how cool is that? Spoiler alert: Very.

    D&D 5E (2014) XP awards for non-combat encounters

I've been cribbing from 4Es XP-for-quests guidelines, but substituting in an amount that seems reasonable. Generally a minor reward would be equal to about the equivalent of a moderate encounter. More for harder (or longer) goals, less for easier ones. Edit: I looked to the Starter Set's Part...

D&D 5E (2014) Does WotC suck at selling games?

Existing players' entitlement issues are a whole separate conversation. (Mine included)

D&D 5E (2014) Does WotC suck at selling games?

Honestly, I think that is the heart of the complaint. If those things were available right now, then WotC could be taking advantage of the current increase in awareness and leveraging it into new players and new DMs.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Multiverse is back....

I love watching how topics fluctuate over the course of 30 pages of discussion. It's like people-watching, but ... different.

D&D 5E (2014) Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

I'm disappointed about the Lord Soth/Strahd fluff thing. When I saw their names in the Index, I was excited. I suppose Acererak is the same way?

Wait, what? Is this really the case?

D&D 5E (2014) Does WotC suck at selling games?

Generally speaking, I am in agreement with Angry about a lot of things. This is not an exception. A lot of people in the first half of this thread either didn't read the article, or got stuck on the "sell" terminology. To be clear -- this isn't about moving product. This is about expanding...

D&D 5E (2014) Encounter Building math: or I killed 2 PCs last night.

I'm not the person you're quoting (obviously), but I think we would have been better served by divorcing XP from CR. That would allow more granularity with encounter building while keeping CR as a general guideline of toughness.

It could be. I've known many people who prefer that style.

    D&D 5E (2014) Kobold Preview

http://media.wizards.com/2014/downloads/dnd/MM_Kobold.pdf Nothing new stat-wise, but the art is interesting. Kind-of a blend of the pre-3E and post-3E looks.
