D&D 5E (2014) Any authors you think should be in Appendix E but are not?

I haven't damaged my eyes squinting at the image, but is Jim Butcher on there? Even if the Dresden Files doesn't make the cut, the Codex Alera probably should, IMO.

    D&D 5E (2014) Finally

One guesses (seriously) hand crossbows and (facetiously) scimitars.

D&D 5E (2014) What monster are you hoping to see in the 5B update?

The Basic Rules are supposed to be updated with all kinds of stuff to tide us over and enable us to run campaigns until the other Core books hit shelves. Part of that will be a bestiary. So... what monster are you hoping makes the cut? Personally, I'm hoping for a wide range of monsters to...

D&D 5E (2014) Is it just me or does it look like we are getting the "must have feats" once again?

I don't think I've seen even one feat that I'd classify as a "must-have." Several that would be really nice for certain builds, but nothing absolutely necessary.

    D&D 5E (2014) Why play a pact blade warlock?

    "Because they're awesome." 'nuff said.

D&D 5E (2014) Wizard with 20 CON and the Durable feat

While I agree on the interpretation, it really feels like there's an easier way to say that. Like... the minimum on your die roll when spending HD is your Con modifier.

D&D 5E (2014) Wizard with 20 CON and the Durable feat

I would say 11. 6 from the HD, +5 for his Con.

    Draconians

I don't think the knock-em-unconscious thing is a flaw. It's even kind-of evocative of the novels, where the flat of the blade became a preferred method of dealing with them.

D&D 5E (2014) Silly speculation about the last two PHB class characters

I thought the Mary Sue interview indicated that the Fighter was going to be female? I might be mis-remembering. ETA: I was. The reference there is to the HUMAN illustration, not the fighter. Where on the new website are we seeing these new pieces of art?

    D&D 5E (2014) Starter Set Tweak -- Starting at a higher level

I'm finally going to be running the Starter Set next weekend and I'm thinking of starting the PCs off at a higher level (2nd... maybe 3rd...) and tweaking the encounters through use of Mearls' encounter building guidelines. What do you guys think? I know it's easily doable, but do you think...

D&D 5E (2014) Starter set cover art meh?

I'm guessing because you (they) thought it was awesome and evocative of the product? Ultimately, though, how could we know what they were thinking or where their focus testing led them? You seem to want answers, but we're not really the people to ask, are we? What are you wanting out of this...

D&D 5E (2014) Starter set cover art meh?

Honestly, discussing the art doesn't interest me. I'm here (these forums) to discuss the game inside. The reason I bring this up is that I expect you will find that people like me are the majority here. We-don't-know-much-about-art,-but-we-know-what-we-like types, which means that useful...

    D&D 5E (2014) This Game is Deadly

I think he meant earlier edition's Raise Dead spells bringing you back a level lower than when you died. But interestingly, monsters that used to drain levels now drain maximum hit points (temporarily). It's an interesting mechanic to be sure.

D&D 5E (2014) Comment on the negative article by John Dodd

You're conflating two issues. I'm suggesting that both products be reviewed in their entirety, as any particular slice may not be indicative of the whole and that the amount of content should be factored in. The expandability (and its relevance to the review) was a separate issue entirely...

D&D 5E (2014) Comment on the negative article by John Dodd

The thing I find most disingenuous about the article is that they didn't play the full starter set. I understand he didn't want to delay the review another month, but... it kind-of matters. The BB is a great product, but it only offers a few hours (at most) worth of adventure as opposed to 20+...

D&D 5E (2014) My Starter Set Play Experience with New Players (SPOILERS)

Very cool! Thanks for the write up. I'd XP, but "must spread blah blah." I'm glad that even the person who didn't want to be there ended up invested in the game.

D&D 5E (2014) Comment on the negative article by John Dodd

Now, are there any monsters in the Starter Set that AREN'T illustrated somewhere in the adventure? I can't think of one off hand, but I don't have my booklet handy to double check either.
