    Piracy

I'm going to bump this for relevance.

    Arcane Schools

Uhh, "A school attracts danger by its very nature. Rivals seek revenge upon the instructors or headmasters for real or imagined slights. Governments feel threatened by the concentration of power. Even the curriculum can destroy the school, when practiced by careless or over-reaching students."

    The iPhone Will Kill D&D

Well, extrapolate out far enough and paper will cease to be a widespread medium, but that's still probably a ways off (depending on how exponential technological change in areas is), and more importantly, how long it takes for those technological changes to become cheap. Paper has a lot of...

    DDi and Lack of PDFs

You are never protecting your IP from electronic theft. All you're doing is annoying legitimate purchasers of your IP. That is the point, not that there's something morally wrong with DRM or something it just plain doesn't work.

    PDFS--Of the WotC Court Case

Also assuming that nobody who pirated still went out and bought a copy.

    What Are You 12?

On the issue of number one. It's entirely possible for people to read an idea, reject it and then months later 'come up with it' as their own idea. Not out of any dishonesty, but simply because memory is a very fallible thing.

    Lost in the Wilderness

You can determine direction with a stick and fifteen minutes easily if you have one sun. Any high trees in the area could be climbed to hopefully get one's bearings.

New Forgotten Realms designed by FR haters?

67 reviews does not a comprehensive survey make, especially when it's a self selected sample.

New Forgotten Realms designed by FR haters?

Because demand for those is still high enough for WotC to use a bigger printing run I'd wager. A smaller printing run for a book that most people aren't going to buy is going to cost more. Of course I can't be certain that's why there's a price difference.

    Grittier D&D (Wounds)

For extra grit in your D&D consider limiting the number of healing surges they get back after an extended rest. It's more abstract then the wounds, but a lot easier to keep track.

    NPC to bolster the party

What roles do the players have covered? If they've got leader + defender you should be able to use the XP guidelines without any problems.

Forked from "An Epiphany" thread: Is World Building "Necessary"?

In one your players get to keep playing in the other they don't? Seems like a pretty big practical difference to me.

Forked from "An Epiphany" thread: Is World Building "Necessary"?

Option A: The DM's plothook Option B: The world is destroyed That's not a meaningful choice.

Forked from "An Epiphany" thread: Is World Building "Necessary"?

    That's not a choice. That's just passive-aggressive railroading.

PHB2 general feats review (heroic tier)

You could try a base +4 bonus going up to +6 at 11th level, and +8 at 21st level. This has the added benefit of being what the feat actually does.

    Same Skill Training Twice?

I would houserule to say it upgrades to skill focus. That keeps it of the approximate power level.

An Epiphany -- My new Fave thing about 4E

At level 30 they lead a coalition of gods against the heart of the far realm itself, destroying the heart of madness and forever sealing the far realm away. Remember, at level 30 your characters are short of godhood by roughly five levels. Everything they do should be accompanied by Ride of...
