    one hit kills, unsatisfying?

Having the enemy that was hard at lower levels be easier at higher levels is practically a staple of fantasy.

    OOTS 627 is up

Lol, that makes you think Lawful Neutral? Ah, yet more proof that the depth and width of people's differing opinions on alignment is amazing.

d20 Math: AC, To Hit, and Diminishing Returns

Well mostly yes. Specifically "5% to hit != 5% more damage." isn't quite right. Imagine you have a ten damage attack. Only hit on 20: Average damage is .5 (10*0.05) Hits on 19 or 20: Average damage is 1 (10*0.1) That .5 equals a 100% damage boost. Misses on a 1: Average damage is 9.5...

4e One-trick ponies: Why is it the DM's fault about combat grind?

Just ask any WoW player whether hit percentage makes a difference in the damage you do.

Defend the town, for the entire campaign

Simplest way to manage it would be to make them grow up in the town, let them have friends and family still in town. Pretty hard to leave your mom to get killed by orcs.

A Paladin and a Cleric are praying to the same god, which is heard from first?

If a divine being wasn't able to grant spells simultaneously then they'd be overwhelmed pretty soon.

[Whedeon-philes] What if Joss ran a D&D game?

Someone you love will die. It will be preceded by a hilariously funny gaming session.

    OotS #623 Is Up....

During the attack on the city, he ran out of spells except for invisibility, which he cast on himself and then ran. So I gather that all really happened, V was there and was unable to help due to his lack of spells.

    Good/Evil vs. Law/Chaos

Alignment is a way of making yourself feel better when you kill the orc women and children in their homes.

    GMing: Transparency and Immersion

Nothing pulls me straight out of the game like lack of transparency about things characters should know. ACs and Attack Rolls fall under that umbrella for me.

I'm math deficient... help me please?

I don't know where on earth you got 1,500 sq feet per person but it's way, way to high. That would give you a population density of 16/sq mile. New York City would need to be 450,000 sq miles big if that were the case. New York City actually has a population density of 23,000 people per sq...

Why there's crafting in WOW and not in D&D

Adding craft skills takes all of five minutes. Give each character one or two skills soley for craft/profession from backstory. Import the crafting rules straight from 3.x edition. Or make up better ones. I wouldn't mind seeing crafting rules out in a splat book, hopefully done in a better...

Tormenting a character, for fun and profit.

Whatever DM is running Battlestar Galactica sure had a fun time with Boomer. That could be a great deal of fun if you had a character who could roleplay it properly.

    Making trouble for a womaniser

Give him a nonevil succubus. She falls for him and decides to follow him around, and being a succubus she has no problem with him sleeping around. But she also has no sort of concept of modesty making her a recurring coitus interruptus as she just wanders in and freaks out the girl. And of...

    Who's a minion? You are!

I would say almost every time. Scanning through the MM it seems like most minions are distinguished either visually or through different equipment, look at the illustration for skeletons for example. Now, the only difference between the Kobold minion and the Kobold Skirmisher is that one...

Dragons: how do they carry treasure?

The dragon can always kill those that see it doing something embarrassing. Swallowing the treasure is probably the best course, as per the Draconomicon the Dragon's breath weapon works through the lungs and dragons control it, meaning they aren't going to accidentally melt all their gold together.
