2 (or more) PCs per Player

Under 1E and 2E we did this all the time. The players would all have 2 or 3 PC's in play. It worked fine, but it is certainly true that the roleplaying suffers a bit under it, in the sense that a player has to divide attention. Usually one of the player's PC's becomes the 'front man' who does...

What do you call arcane magic users?

In most of my games, I do not consider divine magic to be _magic_. Thus, magic-users, mages, arcanists, wizards, sorcerors, witches (also used for males), warlocks, magicians, magi, theurges etc. are all names for non-priestly magic users. Those who use divinely inspired magic are priests...

    Myers-Briggs and Gamers

ENTP here, but then again, I am in marketing. The E is not a very 'big' one, the T and P are. In an exact opposite as someone else mentioned in this thread, myself I get annoyed by people who go all into details and schedules and planning, it irks me to no end as I like to keep options open...

Do You Sometimes Purchase RPG Books Just To Read (Not For Play Purposes)?

Due to RL and my location in Utrecht, Netherlands with few gaming groups available, I have not been able to play a TT game in several years. I played some through PBeM, but even that is difficult to keep going on a continuous basis. So, I still buy 'all' the books, to keep up and with the...

    Top 10 odd D&D weapons

Actually, there are some missing. Why are there no damage values for thrown dwarves??

    WotC updates the Product Catalog!

Yeah, people may still not be listening, but at least the post count and your recognition as a Scarred Lands Sage have gone up..... ;) So... when are you going to put all that posting prowess and time into the effort to write your own SL books??

    WotC updates the Product Catalog!

Oh... just start promoting scarred lands in any thread even remotely irrelevant, and you'll have his postcount in no time..... ;)

The top 100 'Sacred Cows' of Roleplaying

Number 2: That some classes are 'broken'. In my opinion (and I state this as my opinion only) the DM can and should be able to adress any supposed unbalance easy in-game. Vast proofs with math that one class deals 0.0005% more damage on average than another etc. are meaningless to me and...

Why are D&D discussions so angry?

Because we are such a bunch of fun people!!! Take a look at this very thread here... it has not (yet, and only in my humble opinion naturally) developed into a flamefest!

How would you like to see a PDF version of Dragon/Dungeon

I like to read through the dead-tree edition, so that is my primary interest. Should the .pdf be available for free to subscribers, that would be cool. Should there be a .pdf subscription possibility for those who would like a .pdf-only sub (prolly at slightly reduced rates as there are no...

    New Arch Devils for hell

Another concept could be to have Solars (or other goodly creatures) tempted, either with good intentions, trying to swing the balance, only to be corrupted in time, or goodly godlings who decide 'it is better to rule in hell then to serve in heaven'.... Definately some insanely powerful mortals...

DM : "Your fighter does too much damage. Drop the belt of strength."

to pogre: nice post. I always knew that people on these boards go out of their way to please and be of service.... ;)

DM : "Your fighter does too much damage. Drop the belt of strength."

Dude, You ask a question, and you get answers. You may not like them, but to act irritated about the views of others is not a fitting reaction. The issue you put to the table is whether it is 'justified' for a DM to refuse a certain item at the start of a game. The consensus answer is: yes...

You are in charge of what WOTC puts out for DnD.

Meh... you're talking about business sense... naturally, then things look quite different. From a business perspective, there are three issues for WotC: - grow the player base: launch some 'basic' type stuff to get more players into the hobby - revenue from PHB: time to do a relaunch of an...

DM : "Your fighter does too much damage. Drop the belt of strength."

Well, most ppl approached things from a technical avenue, let me tackle things in a more 'philosophical' way. First off, rule zero. The game is about having fun. For all players (including the DM) involved. If for some reason your PC's 'overpowerdness' poses a problem and detracts from the fun...

You are in charge of what WOTC puts out for DnD.

Well.... WotC puts out about 2 books each month. So, over a 2 year timespan, you'd have room for 48 titles.... should be plenty room for a whole slew of Campaign Classics seems to me.... ;)

You are in charge of what WOTC puts out for DnD.

Starting out with a Basic Edition of DnD: a boxed set with all the necessary mini's, several sets of dive, several PHB's for only selected classes with limited skills, feats, spellst etc. up to about level 10 and a DMG redux with simplified rules and selected monsters (with all the mini's...

    "Tomes"? (Products, not in-game items)

Well, there are several up on ebay at the moment. Don't know what they sell for in auctions, but seeing the 'buy now' prices, must be able to get one at around $15.00 Whether this makes it worth it for you.... Some info on it: designed by Skip Williams, creative directors Keith Strohm and Ed...
