Which currently non-core classes would you add?

Archer (1E), Assassin (3E), Cavalier (1E), Barbarian (as they are in 1E not the weak class they are now), Elementalists (2E i.e. 2E Tome of Magic), More Specialist Wizards (Candle Magic, Mirror Magic, etc.).

What DO you like about 1E AD&D

Game World 1. The lack of a specific game world permeating the rules and impossing on my own game world. 2. The lack of most villians and monsters in D&D being cross bred with denizens of hell, each other or worse; the lack of monster templates which complicate; the ease of calculating XP. 3...

    D&D 4E Great idea for 4E!

Because I don't enjoy flipping to the combat section every session to recall the process for a grapple, charge or overrun. :)

    D&D 4E Great idea for 4E!

I was referring to the limited decision tree of a computer game vs. the unlimited decision tree of a pencil and paper role playing game.

D&D: Insider Tools - will they succeed?

Here, here! I strongly agree with point #1. I'd pay for electronic books but not at the current prices. The best thing coming out of 4E is that 3E books will soon be cheeper. :)

    D&D 4E 4e price increase?

Yes! That's exactly what I do too. :)

    D&D 4E Great idea for 4E!

Why take a game with limitless (well, limited by imagination) options, which is the strength of playing a table top game over a computer game (limited by a finite tree of options), and bring it down to multiple choice? I wouldn't mind seeing reference cards for combat options but not cards to...

    D&D 4E Great idea for 4E!

That's actually true. Gary Gygax himself said "The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." :D Still don't want cards in my game though. ;)

Magic items are finally rare !

Yes, they are in just about every edition of the game. How many magic items you place is not set in stone anywhere. The level of magic items should be a game world decision made by the DM not by the game system. It is in fact just that...a suggestion. That's why the book is entitled the...

Magic items are finally rare !

Responding mostly to the subject line... magic items were already rare. It's the Dungeon Master that makes them not. The entitlement rules in the Dungeon Master's Guide weaken the economics in game world design.

D&D 4E 3 months in and 7 to go - will YOU switch to 4e?

I'll read the SRD and house rule what I like and disregard the rest. I'm done buying. At the very best, I might buy an *inexpensive* alternative core book.

    D&D 4E Great idea for 4E!

Horrible idea. Wanna play a card game? Go play a card game instead of turning D&D into a card game.

D&D: Insider Tools - will they succeed?

I hope you're right. It just seems like the biggest selling point touted with 4E is the virtual table top. I use a laptop to run my games but a virtual table top doesn't interest me personally. What does are design tools and I don't think I'm the only computerized game master on the planet...

D&D: Insider Tools - will they succeed?

It amazes me how quickly people here turn to simply being rude and sarcastic. I'm entitled to my opinion regardless of how expert you believe Wizards to be. Just because they're in business doesn't mean every move they make is gold. I'm a consumer and consumers are also experts. Wizards...

    3rd Party Companies

Are there any 3rd party companies that have announced intentions to continue producing 3.5 material after 4E comes out?

    D&D 4E 4e price increase?

Here, here... besides anyone who's played 3.5 for any length of time owns more than just three books and that collection is most certainly well over $120.

D&D: Insider Tools - will they succeed?

D&D: Insider Tools - will the succeed? I think their online subscription model will ultimately fail for the following reasons: 1. Wizards is assuming that most gamers are also computer geeks which isn't the case. It would be interesting to know what the general percentage is and I wonder if...

    Invitation

Please accept this post as a gracious invitation for anyone who's interested to read the campaign journals on my website, AWizardInDallas.com. I've been running two D&D 3.5 campaigns, "The Sunless Citadel" and the "Valley of Obelisks", for quite sometime now and have been faithfully journalling...
