D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

I always thought 0-level meant 'boring' as in the "0" was the shape your mouth makes when you're yawning through something as dull as being a pre-classed dirt farming serf...

D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

Mentally placing quotes around bloodied makes it less silly as a descriptor. I'm 'bloodied'.

Amen. The only reason I'm even looking at it is right here.

I think you missed the point. Definitely.

D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

I think that's the point. Is the use of the word appropriate in the situation or not? And since the level of propriety is partially determined by the author's intent when s/he chose the word it does speak to their mindset.

D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

lol. Seeing as how the 'hit point' system is one of the silliest mechanisms for recording damage (but at least Wizards has given it a more 'generic' purpose - not just real damage, but wounds, loss of stamina, etc) 'bloodied' really would have made more sense if it was 'f-ed up'

I'm not sure but your use of 'xun' seems pretty elitist...

    Fool me once....

I posted this elsewhere, but I stopped depending on Amazon for gaming book releases to be on time when they changed dates daily for Dark Heresy preorders (and now we know why).

A new 4e poll please be honest

Assume the question starts with "For those of you who play D&D..." and you won't need an option...;) Where's the 'still haven't decided yet' option? For me, I like 4e because it's looking to be a LOT less work for the GM to set up adventures and populate them with NPCs/monsters. I'm down for...

Do you TTRPG but don't D&D?

I use the D20 rules for Iron Kingdoms because that's what they're tied to. I just don't play D&D. Did I buy their core rulebooks for use in another game setting? Yup. I also play Dark Heresy and Savage Worlds (rippers and solomon kane) and regularly played Shadowrun for over a decade before...

D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

Only if their rich vocabulary was limited to a 'dropin' word every so often. And also where a less 'rich' word or phrase would suffice. If I'm reading something that consistently contains rich vocabulary I'm fine with that. But dropping in a $5 word here and there in a 500-word monosyllabic...

    Undead Supplement

This title will be released on January 20, 2009. Nothing like stringing out those releases. Didn't someone say 'monthly' was too fast?

Will do. The irony, of course, is that I read 8 pages into this thread to post the above. :)

D&D 4E How does 4E hold up on verisimilitude?

I'm a newcomer to these forums and any in-depth d20 post-conversations in general (having recently found the EN forums because Wizards are so ass-slow), but am not a newcomer to RP gaming. And I very much do know what the word means and in reading several threads on these boards I feel exactly...

    Campaign setting for 4e

I'm not a fan of the D&D settings in general, so if I play 4e without some sort of conversion to my favorite setting, Iron Kingdoms, I'm going to use this anime fantasy setting I've always had a soft spot for: Lodoss Works great since it has all the funkiness of 4th edition's powers as well as...

    Amazon Delay until JULY 22nd

Amazon pulled that on me when I pre-ordered the Dark Heresy rulebook. The email should read "Hay, we didn't anticipate this many orders, so we screwed up and didn't order enough. We're using some arcane formula to decide who does and doesn't get theirs first and are letting you unlucky sods know...
