And this is probably what I'll be doing. I like the consolidation of the KS'es but the dilution of some of the non-combat abilities means that two characters will be exactly the same when it comes to what they know about the world, regardless of their backgrounds/etc.

I don't mind everyone having access to all knowledge-based skills, it's the fact that everyone with the same skill level in each one knowing EXACTLY the same information. Which includes EVERYTHING possible under that subject.
