    Why RPGs are Failing

Please see my posts above :\ . Geez, amazing how some people choose to ignore it. Console games are doing "OK" (but even thats debatable). Computer games are most definitely ***NOT***. Most console games (including console rpgs) from what I gather are still primarily non-networked...

How many RPGs do you own?

    Probably around 10 for me.

File-Sharing: Has it affected the RPG industry?

For me, a downloaded PDF or photocopied stuff just isn't the same as having a nice hardbound book in my hands. IMHO, I don't think it affects the RPG companies to the same degree that it does to music or PC gaming industry. Not sure about movies (although I do know of people who have d/l'ed...

More players than you care to DM?

My first DM had this issue having more players than he could comfortably accomodate (which was 6 max at the time).

    Why RPGs are Failing

Is it really all that different now than it was back then when the hobby first started? I dunno, I recently started playing so this a rhetorical question......

    Why RPGs are Failing

Actually only video (console) gaming is the only one entertainment market (ie movies, music, books, etc) thats actually doing "OK" at the moment; computer (PC) gaming, however, has been most definitely in serious trouble for a long time now, with lots of evidence to back it up. RPGs are in a...

where do you get your RPG books?

Voted FLGS. Although I have bought books at regular book stores as well. I enjoy going to my FLGS (Brookhurst Hobbies) as they have a good selection (although not perfect by any means) and courteous staff, so they get my dollars. Still not comfortable ordering things through the Internet yet.

Did a FLGS introduce you to the hobby?

Voted other. Got interested after playing CRPGs like Baldurs Gate 2, Planescape and Temple of Elemental Evil. Although hearing about PnP roleplaying on Bioware's NWN boards as well as talking to an employee at my local WotC store helped as well. I had known friends in junior high who had...

    Super Hero RPG...

I have to second Mutants and Masterminds as well, although character creation can be SERIOUSLY complicated. Marvel Universe is alright, it is diceless and uses cards a la CCGs, but it is no longer being supported. Silver Age Sentinels (both the D20 and Tri-Stat versions) is another option but...

    Size of Gaming Industry???

As a long-time PC gamer, it wouldn't surprise me any. The problems inherent with PC gaming are just legion (escalating system requirements, buggy software, incompatible hardware, etc.)

    Size of Gaming Industry???

A rumor probably from some anonymous dude on RPG.net, and everybody knows how reliable the info on that site is..... And please, use the more specific term ***console games/gaming***, not "computer games" which refer more specifically to PC games. Console gaming is definitely growing; however...

TOUCHY SUBJECT RANT: What if you don't like the people you game with?

Nope I've been blessed with a pretty good group of people so far. Even though some of the people have differing playstyles (i.e. min/maxer, munchin, roleplayer) we've been able to smooth out the differences so far. And these are people I have never met before in my life.

Let me guess You're probably from RPG.net, right? Your "commentary" would certainly feel more at home over there than here, thats for sure.

    3.x like a video game?

Ironically enough, on Bioware's Neverwinter Nights boards, you often lots of people complaining that the DnD ruleset that the game is based on is too simple or convoluted for the electronic game format and is better suited for table-top. And that it would be better if Bioware had developed its...

    Racial variety

Being a "non-white" myself, I can sorta see your point, although I think the Phb does a pretty decent job of including all "racial" variations. Definitely agree on the Drow issue, especially in the past. However, I think WotC did modify the drow in the Forgotten Realms Campaign book to say...

How old is our gaming population of EN World?

Will be 30 in this month. Just started getting into role-playing late last year though I knew of some friends who had played it when I was in junior high.

Great D&D article in today's Boston Globe!

I am SO itchin to link this article and/or thread over on the RPG.net  Not that it would change the typical attitude over there of "D02 SuxxORs!" or "RPGs or dying, help me!" unfortunately, but you never know. ;)

    Worst 3.5 publishers?

Not to fond of Fantasy Flight's books. The production quality on them just looks terrible IMHO.
