What motivated you to purchase splatbooks for 3e?

The only thing that ever motivates me to buy sourcebooks is whether or not they look interesting. If so, then I'll buy. If not, then I could care less what's in them. This has led to me ignoring certain sourcebooks in games I run (commonly). Only rarely is this a problem. ETA: I did leave...

The Dungeon Master or The Rules: why would you play in a RPG campaign?

Yes. Some of my best RPG experiences have been thus. This doesn't mean I'd buy any books though. :P Consequently, I opted out of the ticky boxes; none of them really fit.

    Eberron: An All-Goblin Campaign?

I didn't realize there was a level adjustment for goblins, hobgoblins, and bugbears in 3x, probably because I just ignored it. ;) Really really cool game concept in any case.

Schools of thought--Where we all stand on the big questions

High magic (FR) V. Medium Magic (GH, 1e) V. Low magic (Conan) settings Home made settings V. Give me a base setting I’ll do the rest (1e Greyhawk) V. Give me a detailed setting and keep detailing it (2e FR). Settings growing alongside novels (FR novels being the prime example here of...

    How Prestigious?

Not to worry - there wasn't any perception of a judgment being made on your part. A lot of the dissatisfaction with PrCs that I've seen have been rooted in balance issues, which I do understand. (Thus my remarks above.) I think there's an axis of variation by edition, and another by group...

    How Prestigious?

So 'core' for the purposes of this poll pretty much just means the PH? I like third edition, I like the diversity of prestige classes. As the DM in a third edition game, I reserve the right (as I do in any game I run) to tell a player "No, Bob, that's munchkiny." How hard can that be?

Is 3.5 experience a sales renaissance?

I seriously, seriously doubt it. Right now many (myself included) are grabbing what we can (at ROCK BOTTOM PRICES!!!! - sorry, I couldn't help myself) with all the sales and such going on. Wait til next year (like...end of summer) and see how all this stuff is selling for those still putting...

Have you played Mazes & Minotaurs?

I ran across it sometime last December (eek!) and was about half-way through it when it came time to move. Until just now I'd forgotten. :)

Someone says "I'm quitting version 'x' of D&D" you react by:

By react you are presuming there's a reaction at all. ;) In seriousness, if it's someone I actually know or play with then it - obviously - carries a bit more weight. Otherwise, honestly I don't much care and hope they find something that they'll like.

How Many Have Looked At/Played Mutant Future

Teach me to not read the comments first. :o Definite interest actually. *G* Might just be the sort of thing that would kick me into running such a thing.

How Many Have Looked At/Played Mutant Future

I went with I've seen it and like it, but have not played it in that if I were to run 1e Gamma World, I would consider it a resource. Given that I'm most likely to run GW as some kind of 1e hybrid with bits of 2 (functionally the same game) and 4e GW then I suppose that'd be "would use it but...

Fiction You Read Over the Past Year

As far as point number 1 I never do anyway so ... no issue there. :) 3. however cuts my annual reading load about in half. Lots of PKD (Radio Free Albumeth, Valis, Our Friends from Frolix 8, the Transmigration of Timothy Archer, Man in the High Tower, Flow my tears the policeman said) - a lot...

Significance of 3rd Party Publishers: Overrated?

I went with just about right. If it weren't for 3rd party materials, I never would have come back to D&D in the first place. It was really things like Necromancer's early products, the Scarred Lands, and Malhavoc Press that got me interested enough to start picking it up again after eight years.

    Problem player in my group

That one right there would get him tossed from my table. Though from the sounds of the rest of his issues, I think one of my games would probably leave him storming out never to return. ;) Glad you were able to get that out in the open.

Can human arcane spellcasters wear armour?

I couldn't agree more. My above example is contingent on the character having the appropriate armor proficiency - e.g. unless the spellcaster has the required proficiency, then spellcasting is Right. Out. I suppose I should have clarified my statement that (with the above in mind), I don't...

    3.5 Fans - Wassup!?!?!

Presently running my homebrew (3.0 corebooks as base, with lots of stuff from 3.5, Pathfinder etc. in the mix). At the moment I'm just picking and choosing the Pathfinder beta - once I see the final version I may change over. Things I've picked up this year. A whole bunch of Pathfinder mods...

Can human arcane spellcasters wear armour?

IMC heavy armor (and in some cases, medium armor) impairs casting of spells that require gestures - but that's about it. I don't think magic should work differently because a character is of a certain species.
