Do you play more for the story or the combat?

Without a context, a fight is just an abstract series of die rolls. If I want to play a wargame, I'll break one out. Story. But I do like a good fight. :)

NPC vs NPC fights : Should I just fake them?

It really depends on whether or not I think the PCs are going to try to get in on the fight. Obviously if they do, the dice come out. If not.............. If I have the time (and motivation!) on my hands to do so, I'll dice it out ahead of time, and take some meticulous notes round by round in...

    "Bulk" rules are needed

In all seriousness and I don't mean to be a smart@$$ but....just say no. If the player won't take your word as GM as final then you've got other problems. At least as I see it. I have always wondered about the "bulk" factor though - I find that (to no real surprise) the people I've never had...

What do people think of campaign twists?

Surprise me. Just do a good job with it. ;) As a GM I tend to start campaign games somewhere between the two extremes. I reserve the right to surprise the players but some kind of solid foundation really really helps.

Which edition would best fit my playing style?

As I read this, I'm thinking OD&D (Rules Compendium), with 2e and 4e as strong runners up. 2e is probably the more flexible of the latter two. OD&D seems to hit almost all of your points save for the race/class flexibility, which really just isn't there.

So, do you like Lodoss War?

Eh, it's not bad. My tastes in anime run more to horror and SF generally. I never really got much of a D&D feel from it honestly. Haven't seen it in ages though.

Where and on What do you Play?

Most of the gaming I've done in the last eight years has been of the "couches and chairs in the living room" variety - though when GMing I find that I do have a marked preference for a nice heavy table for everyone to gather round. (Maybe I just like hearing the clatter of dice.)

    4e cosmology and old settings

This. Since the middle previews from before the 4e release, I've gotten an OD&D (Mentzer era) vibe from the crunch (in a general sense) and a OD&D Masters/Immortal set vibe from a lot of the fluff. Generally I'm not terribly a fan of recycling the old settings (I'd much rather see something...

What did you never like in 3e?

Except in 3.x, wherein barbarian is a berserker with a modicum of "culture" tacked on with some crazy glue almost as an afterthought. (And by that, I mean illiteracy. :P)

What did you never like in 3e?

Mostly just the usual (turning undead, unarmed combat) - the adjusted level nonsense for "monster" characters is a giant dumb headache. A few of the later more munchkiny feats and stuff of course, but duh. Not much overall. Still pretty fond of 3.x

Anyone importing 4E’s’Used gear sells for 1/5th if at all’ to other RPG systems?

*headscratch* That gear, it tends to weigh a lot after a very very short period of time. Not to mention it's bulky (and often, sharp and pointy). In the games I run, the scavengers*koff*PCs pretty quickly recognize that a comparable weight of coins (as opposed to, say, random armor and...

The Druid makes me chew the furniture

The druid has always been one of my favorite classes....I rather expect that whatever bears the moniker "Druid" in 4e will seem nerfed to me (at best). Hint: I could care less if druids wildshape. I understand that's a likely primary power set. (At least, last I heard.)

    Forked Thread: The Shopping list

Draconomicon I: Chromatic Dragons Rules Expansion - nope Martial Power: Rules Expansion - only if I've got a game going Demon Queen’s Enclave Adventure P2 - probably not; IMO the adventures so far have been iffy. Manual of the Planes Accessory - definitely picking this one up Open Grave...

What should be turned into a RPG?

Chaosium did one around 1984 or so. It wasn't bad, unless you wanted to run something that wasn't set on the Ringworld, then you were kind of on your own. Nonetheless I recall it as being pretty good (provided you like BRP, which I do, though not as much as I did at the time).

What should be turned into a RPG?

Nothing. I'm personally really sick of everything and it's brother being licensed out to make (often but not always) really lame RPGs. (The one exception I can think of is CoC, but I'm sure there's one or two others....) But then I don't understand why books and tv shows are adapted to film...

    [WotC_Logan] Why is Tiamat Huge?

*nods* I have since (in another thread I think) been corrected. Though....if it's that rare I don't quite "get" the point of "fixing" the stats to match the mini.

Does art matter in a publication?

Eh. The art in 4e is, to me, just as bland and forgettable as the art in 3e was. Of course, "art" is (more than most) highly subjective.

Does art matter in a publication?

It can but doesn't always. Sometimes the art just blends beautifully with the text and sometimes it's an abomination level eyesore. The rest of the time it's just kind of there. I find that certain publishers are better (and worse) about this sort of thing than others, but it depends.
