Soooo...the Beyonder just cosmically edited Swords & Wizardry Complete out of existence? No problem, I'll play OD&D, BECMI, or 1e AD&D. And houserule it. Problem solved.
Politics aren't exactly known for fact-based mudslinging really. I have no doubt it's politically motivated in some form or fashion.
In any case, I wish the best for him and hope this fizzles out soon. Most of my favorite 3e memories come from NG products.
IMO, ideally, a paladin and a (classical - e.g. first edition AD&D) cleric are the same class, and Priest is a separate class.
Edited to add If anything, a cleric is a specific build/archtype/kit/whatever of the paladin class, which has taken an oath against using edged weapons in order to gain...
So...my original D&D homebrew, or the one I came up with two years ago....or my wife's heavily houseruled homebrew. Oh wait, no homebrew option on there.
So..oh wait, the Known World/Mystara's not on there either.
I suppose for purposes of poll I'll have to go with either Spelljammer or...
We might get a PS 4 at some point down the line (that's mostly up to the spouse, I could care less) but neither of us care for the One (a pretentious name if there ever was one). We do, however, need to get a new 360, and that should be relatively cheaper.
As it is my favorite 'all in one book' D&D I'd have to say yes, at least for what I want/use it for. Simple, tight mechanics, very little excess but still comprehensive.
I acquired the Holmes boxed set in the fall of 1980 but it was a friend of a friend who actually had to come over and explain how to play the game (my initial concept of gameplay was a bit borked to say the least). Mind, he started us on 1e AD&D.
Within a year I scored a copy of the Moldvay...
All from Drive thru RPG -
Atlantis the Second Age beta (the new one, just a few nights ago)
And purchased back over the summer -
the rest of the Day After Ragnarok PDFs and
Several issues of Wisdom from the Wastelands (for Mutant Future).
I've played or run (and in many cases both) everything on that list - though in a few cases (Dragonlance, the Lendore Isles stuff) I've only partial experience. (I've played/run in Bone Hill many times but have never seen a copy of L2 in print; and well, we kicked the original Dragonlance stuff...
Failure to adapt. Like 99% of all species really.
Most likely, I think eventually peak oil or some other critical resource necessity will come along that we have chosen not to avoid dependency on and that's it. Wars will arise from scarce resources and deteriorating infrastructure and...
Sounds interesting, though it appears to be for Pathfinder which is sad making for me. (I *can* adapt from Pathfinder but I don't like having to do so.) Going to have to try to track down a few reviews regardless. :)
Nope. Unless it undergoes some freakish metamorphosis between now and release it just doesn't appeal to me at all. After release I might well play it if someone else offers to run but that's as interested as I'm going to get with the game as it is now.
Traveller (pretty much any version), Mage: the Ascension (ideally revised), Gamma World (1st, 2nd, or 4th ed.), 1st ed. Stormbringer and (currently) Mutant Future. I like plenty others (Savage Worlds, Eclipse Phase, etc.) but those are the faves.
Given that the link triggers a whale load of pop ups demanding that I subscribe to whatever that is, could you give a brief synopsis of what it says?
EDIT Nevermind. I typed the link in manually and bypassed all that popup stuff. No idea why it did that.
I note that a demonstration has...
