New Werewolf: The Apocalypse Coming This Summer

Frick, it's a pun?! Nearly thirty years missing that one!

Hard City Evokes The Asphalt Jungle, The Maltese Falcon, and The Big Sleep

This sounds like a decent game, but I can just strip the "Cthulhu" out of Call or Trail. I do appreciate an actual "pure historical" game being on the market, at least.

New Werewolf: The Apocalypse Coming This Summer

Well, they the best comedy comes from punching UP at the subject. Which, with how increasingly clear it is that the VAST majority are on equal footing, here at rock bottom.... Yeah, we're pretty much left with the paranoid, xenophobic, oligarchs and their brainwashed jackboots.

New Werewolf: The Apocalypse Coming This Summer

Oh, this is finally happening. I'm curious on the lore, too. If only to see how the false-alarm apocalypse went and see how the wolves are faring starring down the twin-barrels of the probable global climate disaster and the... current wave of civil unrest, we'll call it.

News Digest for the Week of April 14, 2023

Ooh, Lower Decks sourcebook. Nice, I was hoping they'd do something with that series.

D&D Movie/TV Free 'Honor Among Thieves' Bundle Includes Characters & Magic Items From The Movie

Personally, I'd say if an attack with the dagger reduces the target to 0 HP, they are DEAD. No death saves, nothing short of True Resurrection will bring them back, do not pass "Go", do not collect 200 gp. You. Are. DONE. Son.

D&D Movie/TV Guess the D&D Movie Opening Weekend Box Office Performance, and Win a Prize!

Admittedly, does anyone outside of D&D nerds and SyFy Originals-grade D-Movie nerds even REMEMBER the 2000s trilogy... Apart from Jeremy Irons?

D&D Movie/TV Free 'Honor Among Thieves' Bundle Includes Characters & Magic Items From The Movie

So, anti-magic concussion blast helmet, a Portal Gun, zombie gas, a dagger with a SLIGHTLY weaker version of the poison from Crit Role Campagne Three, and an unnecessarily fancy Scroll of True Resurrection that explicitly counters the poison dagger (seriously, the SOURCE of a specific spell...

No idea. Haven't played OSE, yet. I assume it's similar to the Thief...

Paizo is doing fan patches that WotC is now making official.

ToV Black Flag Playtest 2: Magic, Luck, Fighter, Wizards!

Old-School Essentials put out a D&D Basic class in their 'zine series, Carcass Crawler, called the Mage. It's both a Gandalf send up AND a thought experiment: what if you replaced spell memorization with the Thief's percentile skill rolls. You get things like "open/close", "detect magic"...

    D&D General Asian D&D

Seriously, can someone PLEASE license and export as many of the Japanese-only CoC modules as possible? I've been really curious about that side of the game for a long while. Plus, it'd have to be cheaper than writing new books from scratch. Sword World in English would ALSO be interesting.

ToV Black Flag Playtest 2: Magic, Luck, Fighter, Wizards!

How does a subclass option ruin the entire class? I genuinely don't get that. Personally, I like the idea of martials getting SOME magic options, but I'd really restrict them. WotC went with specific schools, I'm thinking a sub-list. Defensive spells (Shield, Mage Armor, Absorb Elements), Melee...

ToV Black Flag Playtest 2: Magic, Luck, Fighter, Wizards!

Agreed. Champion, Open Hand, Hunter, Berserker. Just take the core features of the class and make them even better. Reading about Cantrip Adepts in Tome of Heroes now and, yeah, I like it. More cantrips, quicker cantrips, stronger cantrips, longer cantrips, EVEN STRONGER cantrips. If I were...

D&D General How do you picture your D&D game in your mind?

Ghibli with dashes of Adventure Time. Cartoony but relatively grounded. Much of Old School Essentials art strikes that balance. (Credit: Sam Mameli) If I were to compile my ideal setting, though, it's Eberron or New Capenna but lighter with drops of the Final Fantasies and, again, Miyazaki...

Yeah, I think CoC would be more your cuppa. Give Harlem Unbound and Cthulhu Britannica a look, I'm certain you'll find those interesting.

I think "Jazz Age Slice-of-Life/Adventure-Comedy" will be the best descriptor, here.

Oh, this looks charming. I'll definitely be picking this up, eventually.
