    Elven Bow "Paradox"

In all seriousness, I assumed "never cut living trees" to mean "cut down". Carefully pruning a bough to form a bow seems perfectly acceptable to me.

    New D&D Terminology

Certain monsters have an ability whish imposes the following condition: "the target cannot use encounter attack powers, daily attack powers, or utility powers (save ends)." We have shorthanded that into "You are f***ed, save ends." Doubly humiliating to see it written on the white-board.

    Gabe's compilied DND site

I wish I was as good a DM after 27 years as Mike is in less than one. Seriously.

    Plot-related combats--or not?!

A meaningful fight involving stakes aside from lost hit points, empty potion bottles, or a pile of gold pieces. Basically, what Umbran said.

Do you keep your Players' character sheets?

When I DM, I ask everyone to upload current versions of their .dnd4e files. They are invaluable when I'm writing up encounters, and they slot into iPlay4e and Combat Tracker---which are integral elements of our play sessions.

    WotC's Epic Adventures

To be fair, the hydra was intended to be a chance for the PCs to flex their newfound Epic Muscles. The Desecration was a bit of grind, but not a cakewalk. Solos don't work so well in Epic, but that's fairly well known. I'm waiting for the final encounter before I render a final opinion.

    WotC's Epic Adventures

Oddly, I haven't noticed this problem with the Epic tier of the Scales of War AP. We're just starting out, but so far it's pretty challenging stuff.

    Martial Healing

"Forget about the minions, the size of the solos, their fancy powers, and remember what got you here. Focus on the fundamentals that we've gone over time and time again. And most important, don't get caught up thinking about winning or losing this combat. If you put your effort and concentration...

    What's Your (Favourite) Role?

Dude---you will *love* a TacLord if you like granting bonuses and screwing with enemies. Hands-down favorite class (and role). Knowing that the party would be screwed without my constant bonuses is incredibly satisfying. Nobody misses with a Daily when I'm around ;)

Player costuming, props etc in "table top" games.

Back in the early 90'sm we'd dress up for V:tM games (tabletop, not LARP). My wife and her sister-in-law dress in black clubwear, and I'd throw on an old army surplus jacket. It really was fun.

    Your favorite in-game D&D organization

I'd say the Wayfinder Foundation from Eberron. It's an eclusive, well-funded adventurer's guild steeped in pulpy goodness. I run it like a cross between the Century Club and the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Tank, healer, DPS. And honestly, I'd like to figure out a way to drop Tank and Healer.

    Grind

Depends on the DM (we rotate frequently) and the encounter (I'm looking at you, Scales of War). That said, we went from "Often" to "Sometimes" once the DMs became more aware of the problem. Anti-grind techniques have really helped.

    May Rules Update

I've played tieflings since the release of 4e, and yeah, Infernal Wrath was not just weak, but honestly more trouble to track than it was worth. I even took Diabolic Soul (DR381) *just* to get rid of the stupid thing from my character sheet. The new version is at least something I would...

Can one PC choose not to take a rest? (Dark Spiral Aura and Rod of Corruption woes.)

Yeah, the rules for taking a short rest imply that it is a choice to take one or not. I can almost understand trying this if you knew you were going to want to go nova in the *next* combat. But not resting between more than two encounters seems like massively diminished returns to me.
