    DDI Group Penetration

Seconded---this is one of the most interesting pseudo-polls I've seen in a while.

    DDI Group Penetration

    1. Out of five people, all have DDI subscriptions (although two are a married couple who share theirs) 2. Four of the five have acted as DM for the current campaign (Scales of War). 3. One player never wants to DM. The rest rotate. 4. The married couple are the only ones who buy books---and...

Are people still mad about . . .

Oh God that sounds like me. In my own (meager) defense, I readily admit that I was misled by some developer posts which implied that 4e would embrace various 'indie RPG' elements that I love so much. Since then, I have learned to take their words well-salted. I cringe when I recall tilting...

Got D&D Insider; Don't need books

Haven't bought a single book in a year. Thanks to DDI, I have more adventures than I can run, more fluff than I can ever use, and more character options than I can ever play. For this lazy, lazy man, it's best value in nearly 30 years of gaming.

    Skirmishing Warlord

If I were to play one, I'd definitely cross out 'Paint the Bullseye' and write in "Feather Me Yon Oaf"

Coming to a MM near you- FLAVOR!

    How do you RP marking?

It's definitely been valuable for me. The suggestions have been great, and I feel much more confident visualizing/describing the effects of a Mark after reading them. Thanks to the constructive posters!

Class Idol Round 1: Show who you love

+1 That said, good to see the Fighter getting some love. Going forward, as less popular classes are eliminated, you my want to further refine the final polls to focus on specific types of classes (great-weapon fighters, brutal scoundrel rogues, etc.). I'd be interested in the result.

What class for a "smart warrior"?

I play a tactical warlord who happens to have the highest Int of his party (at a minor hit to Str), and I've never had as much fun with a D&D PC . . . ever. YMMV, of course, but there's nothing better than being a cross between Reed Richards and Captain America.

    Are you a refluffer?

Because. It. Is. Magic. If my players wanted to play in a setting where everything operated under the assumption of codified rules, I would break out my Twilight 2000 box set. But luckily for all of us, the want to explore a world of magic and mystery. Then maybe the Evil High Priest with a...

    Are you a refluffer?

Exactly. If I want a game where every PC has access to Thottbot---well I wouldn't run a game. But turning a villain's fireball into the screeching souls of unbaptized children? Priceless.

Disappointed in Dungeon, at least for adventures.

Preach it, brother. My group has been running this thing since its inception, rotating DMs when boredom sets in. When I'm behind the screen I find myself changing vast swaths of the adventure just to make it interesting to run. We had a discussion about it and while we find the plot sometimes...

    Are you a refluffer?

Reskinning Monsters: I do this *every game*. The Monster Builder allows me unlimited opportunities take disparate powers and abilities and apply them to my ideal antagonist. A piece of Minotaur here, a dash of Orc there, add a hint of Hobgoblin and voila: a perfect War Ape in the service of my...

Campaign Standards: Slavery yea or nay?

This, in spades. The mere mention of 'slavers' results in the heroes drawing blades from scabbards. Which is precisely why they are heroes.

Did your very first character die or level up?

I joined an after-school D&D group in 5th grade. They handed me a 3rd-level wizard character sheet and explained a couple of spells to me. Rolled some dice, killed a green slime. I opened a chest and saw a gold coin. With the instinctive greed of a ten-year old boy (or seasoned adventurer), I...

To Reimburse or Not to Reimburse?

I guess this is why I removed the magical economy from my game entirely. Players come up with Wish Lists as normal, increasing their chances of finding higher level items during their adventures. If they want any other items of their level or lower, they must make them themselves (using...

4e Races I'd love to see, but probably never will:

Another vote for fully supported Goblins. (With apologies to Thomas Hobbes) I prefer my heroes solitary, nasty, brutish and short.
