I suspect something more minis focused, possibly a departure from D20, probably faster and less loaded with stuff. Its going to be tricky for them, they won't want to turn off their base of 3E players, but at the same time want to grow their numbers (and many see customization as complicated)...

As long as the DM is able to figure out what happens if PCs go off course, railroading modules aren't so bad. What happens alot is the DM doesn't read the entire module first (or perhaps skims it) and gets flustered when the PCs become unpredictable. A flustered DM can be a nightmare.
