[April] What are you playing this month?

Finished the last mission of Splinter Cell which I hadn't cleared, uninstalled it, then installed Pandora Tomorrow. But I'm on a business trip in Taiwan this week so I brought along a copy of GalCiv which I have yet to install and try.

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior replies to Ys-Korros, saying "It isn't as if we have to travel with him. All we have to do is let him go in peace in exchange for the information. We could even strip him of his weapons first, as long as we live up to our word. If we continue to move him along with us bound as he is, he...

At least they respond to you. Count yourself lucky. Three emails ignored.

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior turns to his companions and shrugs, "The Rhodin says to free him and he will tell us what he knows. I think it's worth taking a chance. He's not much of a threat to us physically, doesn't have any information on our plans. Why, even we don't know what we'll be doing once the scouts come...

    [April] What are you reading?

Eric, the collection The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian is a fine place to start with Conan as it is chronological in order they were written. You might want to check out the Lotus recommended reading list I linked above for some good SF recommendations.

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior smiles at Ys-Korros and says, "I think it is safe to surmise that they left because Iriana's troops drove them out, but I will ask him where they went." Pyior then turns to the Rhodin and asks, "Where your people go to?"

    [April] What are you reading?

I'm reading Spin State by Chris Moriarty, which I was originally turned onto by Locus Magazine's recommended reading list for 2004. It's a hard SF novel, combination military/social/murder mystery with a lot of cyberpunk tropes.

    Ring of Counterspells, Area-effect spells

Maybe, but that's not what I'm doing. I'm talking about the original module as designed by Monte Cook, one of the designers of 3e. There's no RttToEE computer game anyway. I'm not saying that Monte can't be wrong, it's just a datapoint.

    Ring of Counterspells, Area-effect spells

In RttToEE there is an NPC with a ring of counterspells that has fireball pre-loaded in it.

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior nods and smiles at Aurial as she runs off to run the errand. He then turns to the Rhodin and asks (trying to seem like he is casually picking up the thread of the conversation) "Why did your people leave you here?"

[GURPS] Vote for the GURPS 4th Edtion cover!

I voted for option 2, although your friend's covers would have garnered my second vote.

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior shrugs and replies to Ys-Korros, "Leaving them with the garrison here may be our only choice. One of us could go ask Iriana Truthspeaker before bringing them above-ground if you think it's best. Do you have another idea?" Pyior quickly interprets what the Rhodin said, and continues to...

Checking to make sure PC magickers don't alter spell picks during game?

I do spot checks from time to time, not necessarily saying that's what I am doing it for. Sometimes when the person goes to the bathroom I'll check as well.

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior quickly interprets the Rhodin's words, "He is yielding!" He then looks around at his comrades and realizes that none of them are wounded, "Good, no one's hurt." He moves to the closest downed Rhodin, waves his staff in a complex pattern, and incants an arcane syllable. He then lays his...

    Travel Domain: Escape a grapple?

Just a note that a character IMC has the travel domain, and the reading that it only applies to magical effects never occured to me -- but now I can see where that is a valid reading. I'll be following this thread closely.

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior chooses a target (one not yet in melee) and uses a move action to move to a spot that denies that Rhodin cover (but ideally one that will be well behind the front lines after the giants close) and yells out "Take them alive!" He then waves his staff in a complicated pattern and stares at...

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior nods at Ys-Korros. "Considering that the terrain isn't suited to setting up an ambush, I am amenable to your suggestion."

[AU] Siege on Ebonring Keep - Part 2

Pyior whispers tot he group, "Nice work Auriel! Now, assuming we wish to engage the Rhodin, we could move as silently as possible to their current position and try to surprise them or we could hide and I could try to use my language skills to draw them into an ambush. The disadvantage of the...
