I want to roll my dice!

Where are there RAW in 4E that call for d12 or percentile? If I recall there are some weapons in the Adventurer Vaults that use a d12 damage die. Anywhere else that is readily accessible to a DM planning an encounter. Is percentile used anywhere?

I want to roll my dice!

I'm bummed. I have all these beautiful dice. But when I DM 4E I wear out my d20s (rightfully so, I love the golden rule) and then my d6s and d10s rolling damage. My d4s sometimes make an appearance, usually for improvised attacks and very early heroic tier monster damage. My poor d12 and...

Totally the wrong forum for this, IMHO. I'm just afraid you're missing your target audience.

    D&D 4E 4e Paper?

It's fine asking here, because there may be a printshop geek in residence. But I'd take the book around to your local printers. Any metro area in the USA of at least 100,000 people will have 3 or 4 dedicated printshops with pros whose job it is to know this stuff. At worst they will be able to...

Where do you get your PCs for delves?

So you find yourself with 2-4 friends and 2-4 hours and you all decide you'd like to play some D&D. I guess these type of adventures are now called delves, and there is a WotC book full of them. I'd guess Dungeon prints these regularly as well (since I don't subscribe I don't know but it seems...

    Need Help! for Tomorrow Night

So my FLGS **still** hasn't received our Dark Sun Encounters kits. The WotC rep promises kits have been sent FedEx Overnight, but he also promised the kits would show up early last week, then by Wednesday morning, then by late last week, then by this morning. So I'm not counting on having the...

    Epic Tier experiences?

In my humble opinion--and at risk of starting a "this is how you should play D&D" flamewar--there should be very little combat in epic-tier, especially late epic-tier. The PCs are all-but gods at that point and they should be dealing with godly issues, such as maintaining the laws of the...

    Epic Tier experiences?

I started a couple threads about epic-play in general and the WotC-published epic-tier adventures just a couple weeks ago. http://www.enworld.org/forum/4e-discussion/276960-wizards-coasts-epic-adventures.html...

    Simultaneous Initiative

    Hey!!!
  10. TikkchikFenTikktikk

    Simultaneous Initiative

I've tried it in 4E. The players complained that it made D&D too hard. They were really complaining about my encounter designs, but didn't know it. We dropped simultaneous initiative after that adventure. We should maybe try it again now that they are more used to 4E and my encounter design style.

What monster abilities do you hate and why?

As a player: anything that ruins hours of gameplay with a single hit: ability loss, level loss, magic item destruction, etc. As a DM: anything that doesn't have a pretty clear tie to fluff. I hate abilities that just arbitrarily deal damage or impart a condition without being able to describe...

    Mutants & Masterminds 3rd Edition

Does anyone have a link to an actual play log or pod/videocast? I've never played a superhero game, and have a hard time imagining how it doesn't devolve into brokenness and/or ridiculousness.

    D&D Bathtub?

Depending on the campaign setting, a wooden bathtub might make more sense than a metal one: Source: Wood Hot Tubs, Cedar Wooden Hot Tubs, Wood Heated Hot Tubs, Japanese Bath Tubs and Ofuros - SeaOtter Woodworks. (The one pictured is an elipse cold-dip tub: 4'l x 3'w x 3 1/2'h fits two adults...

What do people play more of nowadays?

Love, love, love 4E. I'm only DMing Encounters right now. I am working on an epic-level campaign to start this fall. Our regular group is playing the new Warhammer, and really enjoying it. The wacky dice pool with non-numeric dice is taking some getting used to.

D&D 4E How Badly Do Randomly Rolled Stats Affect 4E Math?

PCs only improve their stats every four levels. New powers, feats, and magical items have much more of an impact on encounter design than ability stats and mods. An additional +1 to your primary and/or secondary stat only means your characters will hit 5% more often and monsters will hit 5% less...

D&D 4E How Badly Do Randomly Rolled Stats Affect 4E Math?

Just realized I didn't define "enough damage to take an average creature of their level to 0hp in 4-6 hits." An exercise left to the reader. Ha! I'm off to bed.

D&D 4E How Badly Do Randomly Rolled Stats Affect 4E Math?

Chance To Hit (%) = ( ( ( 10.5 + to hit mods ) - defense ) * 5 ) + 50 PCs should hit 60–75% of the time to keep players happy. Increasing monster accuracy and damage increases the challenge of staying alive. I personally like to have monsters hit 60-75% of the time and do enough damage to...

    D&D 4E 4E Wilderness Adventures

That's a good idea, and what I've been doing in general (usually as the result of a failed skill challenge check. But if someone has a great example of this it can save DMs a lot of work, at least giving them a stating point with which to tinker. My encounters have been pretty specific to our...

    D&D 4E 4E Wilderness Adventures

Are there any good random encounter/monster tables for 4E? I don't recall any in the PHB or DMG, but I'm AFB too.
