    New Power Sources

I wonder if we can ask an Admin to move a number of posts over to a new thread? That way we can fork it over to it's own thread and take with us the posts that have already been discussing the topic.

Where is the focus of the game (Forked Thread: 4E reminded me how much I like 3E)

Forked from: 4E reminded me how much I like 3E Unpacking is a term we used in my Lit classes to take a passage/sentence/word and talk about it and all its meanings, both obvious and hidden. It's a term that's stuck with me. By unpacking, I mean I'd like you to talk more about this idea of...

    D&D 3.x 4E reminded me how much I like 3E

Wulf, I'm intrigued by this sentence. Could you unpack that, please? Fork it over it you want.

    Historical-based 4e games

I disagree, I think 2e, and especially 3e, had a lot of flexibility and options to be an effective fantasy toolkit. But we're talking opinions here. I have Ars Magica and like it well enough, but that game scratches a different itch. That's what we're trying to find out in this thread. :)

    New Power Sources

The scope of those powers is a bit too much for my taste, but the idea of the social classes affecting combat in Leader-like ways appeals to me, a lot. My gut instinct would be to grant a few purely combat powers to these classes so they can fend for themselves, but have the bulk of their Attack...

    New Power Sources

First of all, I'm so glad that my post was coherent. I typed it up way late last night and I was half asleep. This morning I woke up afraid I may have typed something ridiculous (I've been known to do stream-of-consciousness typing, but let's not go into my crazy quirks). :) Fully awake now, I...

    New Power Sources

Political, maybe, but not all social classes/situations need to be political (though it usually plays a big part anyway). There's two ways one could go about this: Make combat powers that complement the Social-powered class features and abilities (Deal 1[W] + Charisma modifier damage plus...

    Historical-based 4e games

I had been considering this option as a fix to part of the problem. I missed that article. I'll download it now and check if there's some ideas there to steal. That's exactly my point: D&D 4e is set in D&D 4e World, which may look like (in your case) Earth's Mediterranean, but is really still...

    4th Edition Bard

Cool. I'll give it a read and see if I can get to play it soon.

    Historical-based 4e games

I can't say I'm convinced but I will admit the thread is making me rethink things. I'll finish the PHB by the weekend and then I'll be able to see all the parts better.

    New Power Sources

I love this idea. Having these classes would go a long way towards me adopting 4e.

    4th Edition Bard

Saric, is the most current version the one on the PDF download? Has anyone playtested this class already and has feedback? At first glance it looks great and seems like a fantastic conversion of the 3e Bard to 4e, but I'd like to know also how it handles on the field.

    Historical-based 4e games

As I said, I still need to get to Rituals, but I was also excited by the idea that martial classes would have all these cool maneuvers (though to be fair, the martial classes were never really the problem in older editions), except the level of power increases exponentially as they go up in...

    Historical-based 4e games

I'd be right there with you except the non-open nature of 4e content makes me feel that innovation won't happen as quickly as it did before (not to mention that, while some eventual new design may help my game, it doesn't necessarilly mean that I'll be able to use it for my secondary goal of...

Sweet! I always had the feeling I was the only one to have read those books. :)

Oh, and I love to see Richard A. Knaak's Dragonrealm as an RPG setting.

    Literary (and other) settings wishlist

FYI, we'll be publishing a True20 version of those settings as True20 Ancients; Rome is coming this year, and Israel early next. As for historical 4e, see below. I just posted a thread about this same idea but in regards to historical games: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?p=4417171...

    Historical-based 4e games

My favorite genre of gaming is (alt-/pseudo-)historical based settings, and earlier in the year, as 4e neared release, I was playing around with creating a historical-based setting for my home 4e game (and perhaps for later publication). I just got the books last week, and as I'm going through...
