Friday the 13th - come share horror stories of bad luck!

Last night, after leaving my friend's place, where I had just GMed a game, I heard a strange hissing coming from my bag of gaming stuff. Since I was driving, I waited until a minute or two later when I parked. One of the surplus cans of soda I'd decided to take custody of, and, for lack of...

    Oots 439

Huh. I always thought they were piercing-only, just like a longsword is (illogically) slashing-only. Well, I don't particularly mind being wrong, seeing as I was playing devil's advocate. Personally, I'd let the player do some beheading if they really wanted to.

Regarding the beheading, I think the problem is that Belkar uses two daggers, which only deal piercing damage per the rules. It's awfully hard to stab somebody's head off.

How did you get your start

Around the end of 3rd grade, my dad read The Hobbit to me. Not long after, he read Lord of the Rings. This would have been in '95. By 7th grade, I'd reread them several times. I'd played a lot of computer games by that point, but nothing with swords and sorcery. For my 12th birthday, I got...

    Rate 300

I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 for one reason: I didn't like all the rock music they stuffed in. I mean, would you have Metallica roaring in the background of Saving Private Ryan? Would you set the stage for Bladerunner's dystopian future with 18th century harpsichord? If you answered yes to...

Are you a gamer or a reader?

Ich bin ein Gamer! For the first couple of years I've been here, I've been a reader, but I've been gaming regularly ever since the opportunity originally arose. As such, my opinions are driven mostly by utilitarian ideals, but I won't hesitate to say that the nitty, gritty details are important...

    WotC biffs some D&D history

(Even though I'm not the one you were asking), all of the dice other than the d10 are platonic solids; they're made up entirely of equilateral shapes (perfect triangles, squares, and pentagons respectively), a trait the d10 does not share.

    Is it just me?

[irony style=facetious] <Waits patiently for Werk to finish> I think that your hypothetical causal relationship between laziness and non-constructive criticism is inherently lazy, and you're crazy for suggesting it! Errr, ahem, <cough> [/irony] But, in all seriousness, I agree. This seems to...

Interesting trend in comics (OOTS, etc.)

That was an oversight on my part...lazy scripting. I should really know better, having done HTML and all.

Interesting trend in comics (OOTS, etc.)

I don't know what you guys are [like] smoking...but Iron Porpoise is [like] totally a band name. -Iron Porpoise- (Formerly known as The Harbor Cetacean Experience, Featuring Craig)

DM's: How many PC's getting raise-dead'/resurrections in your campaigns?

I voted with the majority (at least for now): 1-3. In the last several shorter campaigns, up until the most recent, we had no PC deaths (several getting to the negatives, but recovering), but in the last mini-campaign, we lost one PC...twice. Thank goodness somebody could Raise Dead...he almost...

    Monster Manual's Abbreviation "MM" Means...

I'd say...umber-hulk might be good; kind of like lobster, but more in the size-category of beef.

    your experience with generic classes?

If I remember correctly, Adepts/Spellcasters can take either Divine or Arcane spells. For a more martial cleric type of priest, throw in a few warrior levels.

    Am I blind?

Try searching Google for site:www.enworld.org <thing you want to search the boards for> Example: site:www.enworld.org "Gencon 2007" if your Google-Fu is strong. Unless you can afford to become a community supporter, in which case I've heard the 'real deal' is a lot better anyway.

How many pages does it take to keep track of your PC's abilities?

A meg is huge for any format short of Bitmap; that would be about 200,000 words worth of plain text and/or HTML. Even for a PDF that would be huge.

Any DMs here ever have an assistant DM?

Well, I've been both the organizer and actual GM for most games I've been involved in, but I've also done a game which was co-GMed (I'd do one session/adventure, then the other guy would do the next one, and then I'd do the next one, and so on), and, when one of my usual players GMed his first...

    DICE SURVIVOR - Round 1

I hate d10s because they're not platonic solids. There, I said it! Are you happy now?!
