Dr Who trailer for new season on BBC 1

The Master was seemingly done in for good and all in the Tardis in the one off 8th Doctor film where Paul McGann played the Doctor. As he went into the eye of harmony there isn't any coming back from that.

POLL: Is "In Remembrance" Thread Creepy?

Sometimes you miss out on the fact that someone has died and the thread is useful for me at least in keeping abreast of the mortality of certain people.

What is your favorite TV show?

And quite a lot of documentaries like Planet...

300 seconds of the movie 300

I had to see the trailer on YouTube. MTV wouldn't let me see it as I was outside the continental US. But the trailer was good and I look forward to seeing the film as it opens in Britain on the 22nd March. One nitpick to StormRaven. WWF became WWE some years back. WWF is now World Wildlife...

Dr Who trailer for new season on BBC 1

From what I as a UK viewer can see in our trailers on the BBC it looks like the Sontarans are the next of the classic oldies to make a comeback. And the Black Dalek has been shown in the trailers as well. John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness is also due to appear in 3 episodes as I...

    [March] What are you reading?

So far this month I have got through The Dain Curse by Dasheill Hammett. Dead bodies galore X-Files: Ruins by Kevin J Anderson. Doesn't really capture the feel of the series Goodbye Mickey Mouse by Len Deighton. Mustang pilots in 1944 in England

Six Nations: who's looking good for the title?

England's first great test comes with the match against Ireland who will be spoiling for revenge after the loss to France. And delericho, there have been several occassions during my life when the England cricket team and rugby team have made me feel proud to be English. It wasn't just the last...

    The Illuminatus Trilogy

I bought it and read it. It is not easy to get into as you will suddenly switch from one viewpoint to another. Is it good ? Yes However you have to be into literature to like it. If you like simple stuff then you won't like this.

    In Remembrance...Celebrities In 2006.

Patrick Allen should be in this thread as well and has been missed. He died in July of last year. And as William Franklyn and Raymond Baxter are here he should be as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Allen Sorry but the firewall is creating real havoc with my attempts at posting a...

    In Remembrance:2007

Ian Richardson died at the age of 72. Apologies my firewall is not letting the link go in properly. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6346301.stm?ls Ian was seen in quite a few British productions such as 2005s Bleak House as the Chancellor, the evil Francis Urquart in House of Cards...

Six Nations: who's looking good for the title?

England need a true test. Ireland and France will provide that test, particularly Ireland. Wales because they lost I am putting out of the equation. If they had won or it was closer then again that would be the true test for England as well. Mind you it is nice to see that an England side can do...

    [Feb] What are you reading?

I too have read The Left Hand of Darkness but that was some years back. Just recently finished The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy by Laurence Sterne. This goes all over the place so you have virtually nothing of Tristram Shandy but plenty of his father and his uncle. Tristram does not...

Vista: Get it now or wait?

As someone who works in IT, I would say wait. Wait until they start ironing the bugs out that they don't even know exist yet. Then get it. New PC ? Yeah for that. Currently ? No.

The Golden Raspberries -- Snakes On a Plane was robbed!

Snakes on a Plane was supposed to be a fun film and was exactly that. Little Man was supposed to be a fun film and wasn't. QED. YVMV.

    RAZZIES (local vote)

There is nothing wrong with Snakes on a Plane. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Good standard B Movie like Eight Legged Freaks. But on principle Wicker Man. The original is very good and should not have been touched. With the rest it is all down to personal taste.

    79th Annual Academy Awards Nominations

I saw The Last King of Scotland last night. Forrest Whitakker is brilliant. Some of the films haven't opened here yet like Notes on a Scandal, Letters from Iwo Jima and Dreamgirls. Pans Labyrinth is deservedly up as it is a marvellous film. I think Mirren will get Best Actress. Scorcese has...
