    Building the Ultimate Grappler

This guy has Greater Multigrab by 12th level, meaning he can grapple one opponent with one limb at no penalty while attacking normally. Oh, and that's with a base Strength score of 34 (before magic items or spells,) and an extra +8 to grapple (in addition to full BAB and Strength bonuses.)...

    Good Scientist class

Start with Rogue. Take max ranks in Disable Device, Open Lock, and a bunch of Craft skills. (Unless you think Sneak Attack better suits your character concept) use the variant from UA (pg.58) that replaces Sneak Attack with Fighter Bonus Feats, and concentrate on tool-like weapons or defense...

    Dragonkin Character Help

I've been taking a look, and my recommendation would be to concentrate on your natural attacks. You've already got 2 claws, and get to use your rear claws on a rake while airborne. Grab the Dragon Tail feat (prereq: Dragonblood subtype--- your DM might require you to take a feat to qualify...

    Dragonkin Character Help

You know, there is actually a feat for that in Savage Species ("Fling Enemy" or something like that.) But in order to take it, you have to be size Huge and have Improved Grab, and if I recall correctly, the penalties involved are still pretty steep.

    Critique this build: Bear Warrior

Yes, please. :D Actually, I wanted to go in the opposite direction from the stereotypical hard-charging Barbarian, so dropping Fast Movement was in keeping with the concept. Superior Unarmed Strike improves on that base damage, and Rage adds to Strength. A Bear Warrior in bear form gets a...

    Critique this build: Bear Warrior

I'd imagine that nobody would select flaws that were truly detrimental to their primary focus. But they do further limit the character's options nonetheless.

    Critique this build: Bear Warrior

"Unless noted otherwise," Improved Grab is only applicable to opponents one size smaller than you. The CC Bear Totem ability isn't "otherwise noted", so it isn't that great.

    Critique this build: Bear Warrior

Makes sense, and I appreciate the insights. Much of my own motivation was to see what could be done from published products, so I did search high and low, and the result is admittedly a grab bag from many sources. My two general ideas going into it were to find a way to cobble together a...

    Critique this build: Bear Warrior

The character doesn't get Medium Armor Proficiency or Martial Weapon Proficiency from Barbarian. Multiclassing as a Fighter at 3rd level remedies those deficiencies. ;)

Thanks, Jack! Here is where the 1st level feats come from: 1. Bonus Feat every character gets at 1st level 2. Human Racial Bonus Feat 3.-4. Feats from flaws (get 1 extra feat for each flaw taken, maximum of two) 5. Variant Class Ability (Bear Totem Barbarian: gains feat...

Okay, 130+ views but no replies... Should I bother posting any more of this? Is it just not interesting, too much to read through, or what? I was hoping for at least a few comments, criticisms, or suggestions. :(

    Dragonkin Character Help

Frightful Presence would be the closest substitute, if you can meet the prerequisites. Frightful Presence [General] (Dcn p106) Prereq: Charisma 15, Intimidate: 9 ranks Benefit: Whenever you attack or charge, all opponents within a 30’ radius, who have fewer levels/HD than you do become Shaken...

What would you do to make a good grappling monk?

How do you make a really nifty grappling Monk? Be a Barbarian! Combine the Bear Totem Barbarian variant from Unearthed Arcana with the City Brawler alternate class features from Dragon 349. You get... 1st Level: Gains: Feat: Toughness Loses: Fast Movement Gains: Feat: Improved Unarmed...

    Dragonkin Character Help

Dragontouched (which conveys the "dragonblood" subtype) isn't sufficient to qualify for feats with the Dragon type as a prerequisite. It does allow a character to qualify for feats that specifically require the dragonblood subtype, however. (There are several in Draconomicon, Dragon Magic, and...

In need of an optimized vampire progression

Have you seen this: Gaining a Template Midcampaign ? If you go this route, you can have a nice steady progression, and mix class levels and vampire template class levels to suit.

Getting the feature of a PrC without taking it - how much should it cost?

Hi Keefe. It gets better... I did some research. The feat is actually called Construct Grafter, FoE p. 145, and it only requires 10 ranks of Craft (Armorsmithing, Blacksmithing, or Sculpting!) Mighty Arms (that's both arms, not just one) gives you a slam attack. The cost is 2 hit points...

That's exactly what I meant. Thank you.

    Armor Spikes

Do Armor Spikes add +1d6 to damage while grappling (which is what the description seems to say), or does the 1d6 piercing damage replace normal grappling damage?

Did I imagine this? ("Spending" skill points)

I could have sworn that you could only spend one skill point per level on a given skill. Now I see examples to the contrary, and can't seem to find the "rule" I was so sure of... Was I just imagining things, or perhaps I'm confusing editions?
