Slashdot reviews 30 years of Adventure

No, I mean Non-WOTC. While people have pointed out rules inconsistancies in some WOTC books (skill points don't add up, etc.), I can pick up any module/book by AEG, Necromancer, etc., and immediately spot BAD mispellings, duplicated sentences, etc. that anyone who actually took a minute to READ...

    D20 games needed

(Some will want to hang me for this, but...) Earthdawn d20 Shadowrun d20

[Spellslinger] Has anyone created NPCs for Spellslinger?

...that you don't mind sharing? I love this setting, but it would have been nice to have some sample characters and/or NPCs.

    Why Do You Play D&D?

I've been playing D&D for 25 years now. I have mostly DM'ed. There are two main reasons I like it. 1. No two games are ever the same. Even if you put the same characters up against the same problem/creatures, it would not turn out the same. I make it a priority in my campaigns to try not to...

    Why Do You Play D&D?

Why, I play so I can read on the message boards how much D&D sucks, and why I am a WOTC-loving idiot for playing it... ;)

What is the best software for creating quick NPCs?

I had an e-mail conversation with James Buck one time, and he said he was going to add equipment by making "packages" for each of the character classes, and the ability to add more of them. Looks like I just might have to write this and make a million bucks ;)

What is the best software for creating quick NPCs?

I have E-Tools. Don't get me started :( I'm looking for something where I can go, "I need a 3rd level Rogue" and boom! I have one, complete with sensible equipment, fully statted out. Unlike some software, I don't want it to give every fighter it generates the same armor and weapons... Has...

Eberron: Is it *really* a swashbuckling kind of campaign setting?

I've implemented the Action Point system from Unearthed Arcana. Makes it so spellcasters have more incentive to spend action points rather than just the fighters.

    When to Call it Quits

Man, that's depressing :( Have you thought that it might just need some trimming instead of disbanding? Was on couple begging off more than another? You could also look for fresh blood. If gaming is something you enjoy, don't let others take that away from you. Find some people who want to...

What's your interest in this new "race" supplement idea?

Does Morpheus show up at some point? "You're faster than this. Don't think you are; know you are." ;)

Oh, you've gone and done it now... :uhoh: ===

If a tree falls in the woods...(Railroading)

Great definition. This is how I always thought of it.

Eberron: Is it *really* a swashbuckling kind of campaign setting?

I'll second that. I had just 3 first level characters go through the first module, a warforged fighter, a human artificer, and an elven wizard. They kicked butt and I didn't change anything about the module. They just played it intelligently and rolled well. Eberron rocks.

Magic affecting the choice to stand and fight or run.

The T-Rex would only run from the fireball or lightning bolt if it was hurting him enough to make him think of going after easier prey, in my opinion. He might be confused, unused to the sensation, but if hungry enough, it would just make him mad...

Definitions and Boundaries between Fantasy and Science Fiction

Wow, this is a can of worms that, as usual, has no place to go but down... ;) Here are two definitions of "True" SF, each of which has been argued before: 1. You must only extrapolate from what we know now. This definition is the most hardcore, and is followed very rarely. 2. You are...

    Stupid Author Syndrome

Here's an obscure one: Author rides on coattails of one of the best SF authors of all time. Writes a "sequel" to this other author's first book. In the original, the moon was destroyed by a huge land based weapon because it was falling to earth. In the idiot new author's book, the moon is...

The (prestige) class that HASN'T been crafted yet ...

One of the AEG single word title books has a druid PrC where you attract a pack of wolves and become their leader. Looks kind of like the wolf girl from Princess Mononke (sp?). I forget which one.

The (prestige) class that HASN'T been crafted yet ...

How about a singing version of every class? Then you could adventure in a "Musical" world - every time something important is about to happen, the characters must sing a song about it... ;)
