Can be any kind of book: novel, history text, game book (any system), you name it. Looking for fluff, not crunch. Best one would be short - I don't want to spend a year researching the period. And it should show various groups operating at the time, their sources of conflict, and thus, provide...

Cool! For inspiration, watch: Nightmare on Elm Street (1 & 3 - especially when she brings back Freddie's hat), Dreamscape, The Cell. The characters have an artifact (the Orb of Morpheus) that allows them to "lucid dream". The kicker is, sometimes they are just in someone's dream other times...

What traits would your Ultimate Space Opera setting have? Not Hard SF, not fantasy, not Star Wars. A high-adventure setting you could really enjoy playing in. Independent of mechanics. What would it contain? What's important? What would be left out?
