Relation Between Message Board Visitors and Product Purchasers

Do you and the other person also buy d20 stuff (print or PDF) beyond just the Player's Handbook? What about the other people in the group?

    Eden Studios Adds Drive-Thru Window

Dave - I started a thread about this topic over in the General Forum here. It's not specifically related to PDFs versus print, but more just about whether or not the majority of people who purchase supplemental products are actively involved using message boards.

Relation Between Message Board Visitors and Product Purchasers

Okay, so I couldn't think of the correct subject. I saw someone over in the publishing forums who mentioned that even if every member of ENWorld and RPG.net decided to, for example, boycott a game company, the loss of sales would barely make a dent in that company's overall sales. That got...

    Eden Studios Adds Drive-Thru Window

I'm afraid that they'll take the wrong message from this. Instead of thinking, "Darn, I bet more people would have purchased our PDFs if we didn't have this overly restrictive DRM thing attached to them", I think they'll come to the conclusion that, "Huh. What's the big deal with these PDFs...

    Online Original D&D Adventure Conversions

I'd like to see the conversions online. IANAL but I believe that you are allowed to legally convert the "game mechanics" but not post the story elements. For example, you could post an NPC stat block for the NPC on Page 9 or whatever, but not the background details of said NPC. Same with...

    How do you use pdf's

    1) I buy all of my PDFs at work (during lunch or after work) using their T-1 line. I save them to my work hard-drive (with IT persmission) and save them to CD to then upload onto my my crappy little laptop at home. I've also put some up on my secure FTP site as "back-up" in case I lose the CD...

    RPGNow vs. DTRPG

Payment Options? I got up to Page 16 on the thread here (I hear the one on RPG.net was up to 63 pages!) but I haven't been able to find an answer to this yet. I also looked on the DriveThruRPG site and in their FAQ but couldn't find the information anywhere (they really need to get some help...

    Define some genres

[THREAD HIJACK]Doom Patrol back in the '60s was Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl, and the Chief. I don't remember a team with werevolves and such.[/THREAD HIJACK] Now back to your regularly scheduled thread. Good topic!

    Whatever happened to Dragon?

Agreed. I might not even use it right away, but I can always find something that I think I *might* use in the future, even if I never get around to it. Again, ditto. I still reread old issues from the 1980s and 1990s for inspiration. This I don't agree with, but to each his own. This goes...

    Whatever happened to Dragon?

The mechanics should go with the inspiration, to serve both types of people. Start with an article about an evil cult that draws power from worshipping the Tarrasque. Give me seem unique tidbits on the organization, its structure, its history, heck, maybe even some sample rituals or something...

    Dawnforge Question.

Correct me if I'm wrong, though, since I don't have my book right here with me, but I seem to remember a chart near the end of the Races chapter that says that a Dawnforge character will obviously be a little more powerful than an average D&D character of the same level and so they provide some...

Which was your favorite setting from TSR/WotC?

I voted Mystara (aka "Known World") also. My first exposure to a "campaign setting" came from reading the little paragraphs of description that were thrown into the Expert Boxed Set around 1983 or so. I think they're all fun to look at and read for ideas, though.

Wil Wheaton in Dungeon Magazine [merged]

If you read his blog and the comments from his fans, you'll notice at least one girl/woman who has already mentioned that she's started learning how to play D&D just b/c Wil talks about it so much on his site. Don't know about Vin, but I believe Wil is playing a Tiefling, and last I heard he...

    Favorite Class

Currently playing a Shugenja 6 / Fighter 4 / Master Samurai 4 in a Middle Earth campaign 1,000 years after the War of the Ring. We're starting a new alternate Dawnforge Campaign next week and I'll be playing a night elf Bard who is going to also take a few levels of Hexblade as he moves up in...

What were the last books you bought?

    * Fury in the Wastelands: Orcs of Tellene. I just started working on developing the orc culture for my homebrew so I picked this up. Some really interesting bits, but I haven't finished reading it yet. * Quintessential Kobold (pdf). I'm planning on writing a review of this since no one...

    Oder ich fall um--juche!

My DM is strictly a Guiness guy, so his saying, "They're drinking light beer" was really a sneaky (or, not-so-sneaky) way of telling us, "They're evil".

    White Wolf

Welcome to the boards. It doesn't seem right, me responding to this before Nightfall. Oh, well... I use quite a bit of S&SS stuff for my campaign, including Relics & Rituals, Relics & Rituals II, and Secrets & Socieities. I also enjoyed reading through Scarred Lands Campaign Setting...

Actually, most of the posters here are pretty nice and not quite so quick to be judgmental or sarcastic. :)

Help with Magic Item (Setanta Please Stay Out!)

I hate to double-post, but I left this over two weeks ago in "Conversions" and only 10 people have looked at it so far. I'm using some stuff from the old Basic D&D Module B7: Rahasia. One of the magic items in the book was a gem set into a statue that basically imprisons the soul of the person...

    Oder ich fall um--juche!

In the campaign in which I play, the group visited a tavern and spied some guys we had been following. We knew that they were up to no good and suspected that they had ties to the big evil organization we were trying to destroy. One of the players asked, "What are they drinking?" The DM...
