'Treasure of Talon Pass' actually endorses this strategy.

    H2 Thunderspire Labyrinth - I Have It!

A question: Who/what is the winged bugbear or gnollish looking creature on the cover? Thanks!

Ranger w/ Twin Strike and Warhammers

I don't think so. The power basically states: 'melee attack or ranged attack, two attacks.' You have to choose melee or ranged first, then you get two of those type attacks.

Ranger w/ Twin Strike and Warhammers

I'm sure that thrown weapons are included, but I just wonder if the fact that havey thrown weapons use Str for a basic ranged attack but use Dex for the ranger powers was noticed (and intended) in the design.

Sheating a sword and drawing a javelin

That's a good point. I think most people think that a minor action is all that is required to drink a potion. Best I can tell, unless it's already in your hand, it takes two minor actions: the first to retrieve the item and a second to drink it.

Ranger w/ Twin Strike and Warhammers

This is one of those questions where the answer is already obvious per the RAW, but I feel compelled to ask it anyway. Let's say I want to make a Dwarf Ranger who likes throwing warhammers or throwing axes. He takes Twin Attack. Ordinarily, warhammers and throwing axes use Str vs. AC since...

Sheating a sword and drawing a javelin

Agreed, but I was trying to figure out how to legally mark an opponent that is bothering an ally that I could not end up adjacent to, but still engage it to cause it trouble. Here's another one... say I want to carry a two-handed weapon... do I have to drop or sheathe that weapon to use a...

Sheating a sword and drawing a javelin

So, the thread about a Paladin having to engage an opponent in the same turn that he issues a divine challenge got me thinking about a Paladin making ranged attacks. I do like the idea of a Paladin making a ranged attack at an opponent he couldn't otherwise engage. (the attack doesn't have to...

Divine Challenge at the end of your turn

It is clearly defined: (second sentence of third paragraph) 'To engage the target, you must either attack it or end your turn adjacent to it.' So, issuing the challenge is not engaging.

Divine Challenge at the end of your turn

I was wondering about this yesterday while watching the Paladin player. At first, I ruled that he could DC at the end of his turn and he wouldn't be required to engage until next turn. But now I realize I was wrong... and I'm glad. The rule clearly states 'on your turn, you must engage the...

Does the KotS Half-Elf Cleric need fixing?

Thanks. Unfortunately, I cannot access Gleemax from my present location. Has anyone rebuilt this character? I'd like a proper starting point...

Secondary ability benefits - why the wizard inconsistency?

I would get much more out of this thread if I knew what 'MAD' meant... Help? Please?

    Can you Interrupt an Interrupt?

Good point. Let's change the scenario: A marked KDS attacks someone else. The marking Fighter gets the immediate interrupt from combat challenge. Then the KDS takes a MOVE action, which does incure OAs. Does the fighter get the OA since it is an opportunity action (the other type of triggered...

    Can you Interrupt an Interrupt?

    A) Yeah, I try to be judicious in my use of OAs by monsters. I base my decision on how I view the monster's instincts and it's assessment of the situation. But I'll always make sure to make OAs now and again so that the PCs get to use their abilities. If I was playing the fighter, I think I...

Does the KotS Half-Elf Cleric need fixing?

I seem to recall reading a thread or two that the KotS Half-Elf Cleric isn't built very well. (Beyond missing the racial at-will as an encounter power and the diplomacy and insight bonuses.) I thought that people were saying that the character just wasn't built well. Not necessarily that it...

    Can you Interrupt an Interrupt?

So, this came up several times in today's game. I've reread the OA rules and the immediate interrupt/reaction rules in the PHB several times (and couldn't find anything in the DMG) but I am still unsure if I played this 'correctly.'* Wizard is adjacent to a kobold dragonshield (KDS). Said KDS...

High HP feel a little too high?

Tell the players I keep TPKing that they have too many hit points! (In actuality, that's due to their complete incomprehension of how to work together and synergise effects. And my ability to open a hole in their line for the Hobgoblin Warcaster to get right in the middle of them and Force Pulse...
