The Capoeirista (A Battle Dancer class fix)

Well, the original version actually has full BAB. :) It's the only good part of the class, everything else is too little, too late. I do plan to give monk full BAB as well, of course. I have honestly never heard this before. My instructor said practitioners were called Capoeiristas.

    Shadow Veil [MIC]: Utterly useless?

It's a balance issue. Darkness spells not leaving illumination makes them effective a wide area moveable blindness effect with long duration against most creatures. It would be utterly freaking broken to have it work like that. So, they have it create dim illumination solely for the purpose...

The Capoeirista (A Battle Dancer class fix)

I really like the intent of the Battle Dancer class in Dragon Compendium, and its clear influence from Capoeira and its history (right down to getting Open Lock as a class skill!). It's just... actually possibly weaker than the monk, which is quite an accomplishment. So, in an attempt to take...

    Lingering Lingering spell?

+4 levels? No. Definitely not worth 4 levels. +4 levels is for stuff that breaks the action economy, like quickened or twinned spells. +2, maybe +3. The effect itself is strong, which would lean towards +3, but you're using it on instaneous damage spells, some of the worst spells in the...

    Advantage and Disadvantage stacking

Of course they won't all be equal. WotC created this problem by choosing to use a trinary system for simplicity. There are only 3 settings: advantage, disadvantage, or neither. There are no "degrees" od advantage/disadvantage or different types of bonuses/penalties, it's all the same. So...

    Advantage and Disadvantage stacking

I don't care if it stacks or not in the sense the OP is talking about, I'd be fine either way. What i am absolutely entrenched on is the idea of it stacking for the purposes of protecting against the other. In other words, rogue, who's completely freaking worthless w/o advantage, has it from...

    Lingering Lingering spell?

Pyrotechnics is Transmutation. Caustic Eruption is Conj (creation). Lingering Spell feat says, "...Those already in the area suffer no additional harm, but other creatures or objects entering the area are subject to its effects...." Only things I see wrong with your idea, though the last is a...

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinderizing the Spellthief

Well, I'd start with full progression sneak attack (+1d6 every odd level), d8 HD, and bard spells per day progression and work from there. If you make it playable, you'll make the actual rogue class look pointless. Ninja, Vivvisectionist, and Archaeologist all faced the same problem. If...

    Barbarian build

You need Barbarian 12 for Come and Get Me, so pick that up next level. Along with the Dazing Assault feat as your 13th level feat. Nice combo. I'd drop Critical Focus (you don't even have any critical feats beyond it...), it's too feat heavy for a barbarian. Also not a fan of pushing...

    Magus.... MONK

Dipping Monk will hurt you a lot, likely more than it helps you, especially if it's for more than a level or 2. And if you did go MoMS, you should get Crane Wing. It gels so perfectly w/ Magus, when I read the title of the thread, I immediately assumed that was why you wanted the multiclass...

Would You Brave A Deadly Dungeon For This Weapon?

This. Also what level am I? How "Deadly" a dungeon is, is relative to character level, so that doesn't really tell me much. And if I'm a level 5 character, obtaining that sword / selling that sword for loot is a lot more enticing than if I were level 10, and by level 15, I'd probably say, "...

    Villain theme songs!

I've always loved Arago/Talpa's Theme from Ronin Warriors. Nice short instrumental piece for the villain to deliver his speech on why everything the heroes have done up to now was a complete waste / playing exactly into his plans. Track 11 - arago no theme (arago's theme) - YouTube Saline...

The classes you would actually want to play poll

Agreed. "Rogue" is hypothetically my favorite class. But 5E's version is abominable, I would never want to play it. The mechanics matter tremendously. Using the rogue example, if "rogue" means the 3E or 4E guy that's a high dex highly mobile dodge tank that can put out consistent high single...

Help with complex applications (Elemental Body)

One interesting aspect I noticed from playing my druid about the Elemental Body line of spells is that unlike the beast shape line, the stat bonuses you gain are based solely on the elemental body spell used, NOT on the actual sized form you assume. With Beast Shape, the size bonuses are...

    D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 - Rogue SA optimizing.

Well, a spiked chain (or other finesse reach weapon) using sneak attacker with some ways of generating AoOs (like the backstab feat I mentioned) can be pretty good, too. TWF isn't the only way to do it. Definitely the easiest to plan around, though.

    D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 - Rogue SA optimizing.

Definitely get Craven. But OP's DM already lets him SA undead and undead are half the enemies (and unless the DM's an ass, that means by sheer odds, most of the other stuff they fight can already be sneak attacked). So, if there is any other decent trap sense trade out there at all, get that...

    Evil Fighter

Craven is in Champions of Ruin. Staggering Strike is Complete Adventurer. Deadly Defense is Complete Scoundrel. Keep in mind, w/ dervish's parry ability, fighting defensively is basically +7 AC for -4 to hit and is very often worth using. And of course, it also work with Expertise. Elusive...

How do you like your martial characters?

Umm... none of the above? I guess encounter powers if I had to pick one. I like martial characters that hone their techniques to the point of Charles Atlas super powers, and then by near epic levels have gone super saiyan. There shouldn't be unexplained daily limits on their awesome, but...

    Looking for Spell

Stone Call with Dazing Spell metamagic feat. Takes a 5th level slot. No SR. No save on the damage, but foes would get will against the 2 round daze effect. I would try to find a no-SR spell that uses a reflex save (save for half, partial, or negates, doesn't matter) and apply dazing spell...

Master of Many Forms as a Ranger archetype

Thank you. Druid does present the same "problem" at level 4, and others from level 1 can ruin such plans, too. Teleport Conjuror wizard has Su teleporting at level 1, for example. So, whatever. :) Well, the wild shape rules I put together are a sort of mish-mash of 3E and PF's rules...
