Why work when others can do it for you - A guide to Summoning Monsters

They nerfed it to dog for SNA, but left it as riding dog for SM. Why should druids even dare to be equally good as clerics at summoning animals? *anger*

    Opportunity attacks

Rogues will never be damage gods. Next question. :p I'm not sure what you mean. Are you looking for a way to move and full attack? There are many ways to get pounce; a Synthesist Summoner or a regular summoner's eidolon can get it at level 1.

    Opportunity attacks

Yeah, compare PF's version to the 3E version and weep: Psionic Feats :: d20srd.org Pin Down is basically the 3E Stand Still, except off-limits to 99% of the characters you'll ever play (both by being restricted to one class and being at such a high level you'll seldom get that far). People...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Will Epic Fail If

...WotC actually listens to their fans' input, judging by what I've seen on this forum and theirs. Or if the whole "uniting all previous editions" was anything more than bs marketing talk that they have no intention of following through on.

    Opportunity attacks

The problem isn't the AoOs, the problem is PF's combat maneuvers system. The answer to your question is to be an 11th level Fighter and take the Pin Down feat. It sucks that the 3E Stand Still got shunted off to level 11 class-exclusiveness, but that's what you're looking for. The other...

Why work when others can do it for you - A guide to Summoning Monsters

Pretty good. Things I didn't notice: - Summoners also have the edge of 10x duration, so those SM I spell(-like)s are actually worth spending the time casting. - One advantage Wizard has over cleric (and druid....dont know why THEY get saddled with it...) is that he can be good and summon...

    Rogue Design goals . L&L May 7th

This is exactly why I want the Fighter class to die. It's bad enough when you have one class whose sole purpose is to "be the best at fighting" and cast a shadow over any other martial character. It gets even worse when said class is the one that no one wants to have any supernatural or...

Holding a charge and spell conditions

So, your DM is enforcing the fractional saves rule from Unearthed Arcana? Is he also enforcing the fractional BAB rule (which would undoubtedly give you at least +1 BAB over what the normal rules would have)? The two are supposed to come as a package deal...

    Rogue Design goals . L&L May 7th

I don't like the emphasis on sneaky backstabbing at all... I want rogues to head more towards flashy combat acrobat / "ninja as portrayed in media and anime." Fast moving, skirmishing, and able to effortlessless maneuver past the front lines to get to softer or more important targets. *Sigh*

Looking for ideas for a demon/undead slayer

There's actually a really awesome "Hunter of Fiends" Paladin variant out there, I think from dragon mag. Gave FE vs. evil outsiders, a banishment aura, and such. Crystalkeep had it. If you happen to have those pdfs or know of the mirror sites that picked it up, you could check it out...

Looking for ideas for a demon/undead slayer

Cleric is probably the best bet, just because it's so powerful. Check out Church Inquisitor prestige class in C.Divine for help with demon-fighting. Note that elf and half-elf rangers can use the substitution level from races of the wild to get undead favored enemy at a +3 instead of +2 (and...

    "Aggro"

Shidaku, this is a great thread. I like your ideas, but ultimately....I still think "tank" is a dumb role. The only tank I find sensible is one who does lockdown - tripping, stand still, disarm, etc... to keep any enemies around him....around him. Aggro is a great simple solution to bad...

Pathfinder 2nd Edition (no, don't get excited!)

As someone disgruntled w/ PF's changes, even I don't think they should make a 2E for many years. They should just keep making money off adventure paths with the existing rules and garner good will for not putting out a new edition every 5 years or less, like WotC does. When they do make 2E...

    Building a Str based Magus

I would switch the Int and Con, I know you want to front line, but con 18 is not required... Since you're a hexcrafter, int has much more importance to you than it does a normal magus. Obviously put the Human +2 into Strength for Str 20. I would not bother with Evil Eye or any of the...

D&D 3.x Wizard limitations in 3e? Read first post before answering please.

To be fair, since most DMs allow polymorph forms based on knowledge checks IME, and druid won't have a great int and only nature as a class skill (and none of the other monster IDing ones), he basically can only shapechange into the crap he could wildshape into already, plus some giants and...

    D&D 3.x The effects of sleep 3.5ed

Reflex also involves sheer dumb luck of the spell effect not hitting you / glancing a hit on you. But you do take the huge dex hit, making failure likely. And I would not consider sleeping to mean auto-fails will saves. There's at least one monster I've seen with a will save negates effect...

    D&D 3.x The effects of sleep 3.5ed

The sleep spell is a bit more severe than naturally falling asleep. That said, for normal sleep... the listen skill on the very last line states, "A sleeping character may make Listen checks at a -10 penalty. A successful check awakens the sleeper." So use that with the listen DCs table. If...

D&D 3.x Wizard limitations in 3e? Read first post before answering please.

I'm aware. But IME wizards save up for / create a Blessed Book ASAP, removing the largest cost. And just find other wizards to trade spells with to avoid the first cost. Honestly, the first cost is pretty stupid. Wizards have every reason to collaborate with each other as much as possible to...

    Splashing For Speed

A cleric does not need a deity, nor does an Oracle. Not having one means losing out on the cleric's free weapon proficiency, though, I think. I really don't see the point in optimizing speed. It has no direct combat application, and the fastest character is the one who can fly, anyway.
